    Changing tanks

Not true. I regularly do a 2/3 (about 2 a year) water change with no problems. The water does not increase or decrease the bio load. The bio concentration in the water does change but that is an insignificant portion of your bio filtration. You can do a switch out but just don’t increase the...

    Changing tanks

Just remember that the tank is merely glass. You don’t cycle the "tank" you cycle the contents. This means that your current 100 gallon substrate is "cycled". That is if you plan to use the contents from your old Glass Container. But should you stock out the 300 you may kick off another cycle...

    Kent Poly-Ox Cyano Control Sucks!!

Thanks for the input. I checked all my water parameters and I can’t find any thing wrong with water quality. All levels are 0ppm. My light is less than a year old. I would say I have a heavy bio load but I feel my filtration is in good shape. Like I said it really was not a problem when it was...

    Kent Poly-Ox Cyano Control Sucks!!

I thought I had a small problem with Cyanobacteria in my tank. I decided to use the Kent Poly-Ox, Cyanobacteria Control as I had seen friends use Chemi Clean with great success. But it was not the same. I bought Poly-Ox and used it that night as recommended, and by the a.m. I noticed a...

What you guys think about this?

set up an over flow on each tank into a single wet/dry then have 2 returns with the same flow rate into each tank and you will be good. just think of the sump as the ctoss connection between the 2 tanks. it may be hard to get the same level in each tank but they will be with in an inch or so of...

I found a reef 5min from my house!!!!

They would never make it. My theory is that these floating docks provide a unique habitat not generally found in theses waters. The shallow waters in this area are mucky oyster bed type environments that are exposed to tidal water movements. These floating docks are located away from the shore...

A reef 5min from my house!!!!

Was posted in Fish topic. Ok. Hers is the situation. I live in St. Augustine Florida. We have lots of docks, marinas, and boat ramps in the area. Yesterday I was working with a friend refurbishing his dock. He has to replace the floating section which has been in the water for years. Within 5...

I found a reef 5min from my house!!!!

I would not try to incite public rage. Nothing can be done. It’s no worse than scraping the barnacles off boat bottoms. It sucks but its the reality of the situation. I can only do what i can to save what i can> Good Idea. I will post a copy on the reef section. Thanks!!
