    Newbie's 20G

First of all nice work on the rock! It looks great. I think with something as small as a 20g you will be fine with with the skilter, especially with your sand bed and rock, which will eventually aid in the filtration. You won't see much waste in your skimmer for a while because there really...

I might take SCUBA diving classes. Need some help.

Around here the class is about $360 including all your rental gear and books. That's for your open-water certification.

    Can't find BioCube Ballast...HELP

I bought an Oceanic BioCube 14 a few months back and now one of the external ballasts has gone bad. Apparently Oceanic customer service is non-exsistent because I can never get a hold of anyone and can't get a response to my emails. What I need is the replacement 24 watt ballast for the BioCube...

20L Frag Tank! Need Light! what one????

You can get the blue effect with any fluorescent lighting is what I was trying to say. VHOs come in actinic too, not just T5s. I read a research once that said a ratio of 2 daylight (10,000K) bulbs to every one true actinic VHO bulb works best for coral growth...just a consideration, 3 VHO bulbs...

20L Frag Tank! Need Light! what one????

The "blue" look is usually given off by the Actinic bulbs. These come in all lighting types, from NO all the way up to LED and VHO and everything in between. MH you can get higher Kelvin color temps, but they are still usually supplemented with some kind of fluorescent actinic. And why are you...

    New dog pics :D

Yeah I pretty much feed her exactly that...raw meat, hot dogs (treats), and she has a cow femur for a chew toy (vitamins)...in addition to her dry dog food. Feeding a dog dry dog food every day is like feeding you lasagna every day. You might like it, but it's still not gonna give you all the...

    Vote on Filtration

Actually if I remember right, 10-15x turnover is ideal...correct me if I'm wrong. The only reason I say no to the skimmer is because of all the nutrients it sucks out. If you can keep on top of it with supplements and such it's fine.

    New dog pics :D

I dunno...I guess she just looks so much like my other dog did that I can't picture her being a wolf. Maybe my other one was too...haha. I've always had the theory of treating your dogs like a trusted friend and not as a dominant/submissive relationship. She seems to listen really well, but...

    Vote on Filtration

what are the pumps for? Are they just for more water movement? 300 gph is gonna be a lot of flow already, you might want to shoot for more like 150-200 gph on your PH. I would recommend an AquaClear 110 or you could get a HOB refugium and a small protein skimmer. 30 lbs of LR would give you a...

    TEMP FLUCTUATIONS? :help:

Do you have fans circulating air between your lights and the water surface? If not, that might help. I keep my temp 80-82...it was jumping higher but I figured out that fan thing and it hasn't fluctuated more than 1 degree since. I've been thinking about the mini-fridge thing too, let me know...

Upping the Watts - Any Concerns?

Like said...probably an algae bloom will be your worst case scenario. I seriously doubt the wattage jump is enough to damage your corals.

    MH vs LED

Have you read the article by Advanced Aquarist's ? It's pretty in-depth (over my head in some places), but seems to give a fairly unbiased testing of the unit vs MH. A link to it is on PFOs website.
