I recently was able to pick up some free lighting ... It was actually from the Wii retail displays - the store I work at was tossing the display so I was able to grab two of the lights. They are T4 - 8 watt blue bulbs -- I realize they aren't high output so they probably would do much for...

umm - actually i think oompa loompas are orange... they do have green hair though -- right? sorry - had to chime in

no they did not go in QT - have heard arguments for both sides, they were the 2nd and 3rd fish in the tank (i know that doesn't matter, just saying, this isn't a huge estrablished tank).. I don't see any ich either - I just wondered, especially since the clowns did seem to let the shrimp clean...

thanks! i'm excited that I finally got my clowns - that is what I have been waiting to get.. .and I was stuck with the mean purple pseudo for awhile.. I think my cleaner shrimp enjoys them too -- Here

I recently got two clownfish and a small cleaner shrimp. Lately, I have noticed the shrimp will sometimes come out and the clown fish will swim near it- and the shrimp comes out and tries to clean them. He is successful most of the time, and the clowns do not let him too near - but enough to...

Thanks - from what I've read and researched it seems that the 250W is fine for the depth of my tank -- and if something requires more light, it could be placed higher in the tank... right?

if you want sand instead of crushed coral - I'd change it out now -- easier to do before you get anything live in there...

it is a 37g tall - i know clowns don't always host, but I thought I'd give it a shot - I'm in the process of looking for some decent clowns now - My one lfs always seems to have them, but they never look great - other fish he has look good, but the perc clowns for some reason usually are...

I do have a canopy -- do the retrofits look good? do you just buy the pieces?? Sorry i'm kind of a lighting dummy. I just like the look of a solid fixture... So I was kind of mad -- the guy at my lfs, when I was mentioning getting into coral or an anemone, said that he wouldn't recommend it...

Here are a couple shots of my tank.. I am looking to buy a sunpod lighting system so I can get a BTA, 2 clowns, and maybe a firefish - and a cleaner shrimp. Well - I might as well just throw out a slew of questions - and if I don't get answers I'll post in the correct boards. Any suggestions...

Thanks everyone for the replies. I agree with the thoughts on the 250W lights, I want to keep my options open. So, if I go with the sunpod, should I add actinics? I just think I'd like the look, especially if I get into bright corals.
