    1st fish recommendations

IMO the clown fish are the best starter fish: extremely hardy, attractive, swim around actively, and aren't overly aggressive. Out of all the fish I had, only one fish (my clown fish) survived when I went on vacation and my tank got cooked by the hot California summer . It even survived the...

    Mushroom Reproducing?

Oh the mushroom looks lighter then it is because of the way I took the photo. And the mushroom is usually flat and not wrinkled like the pic. I'll try and get another pic of it when it looks better. But what is the little thing hanging off of it?

    Mushroom Reproducing?

Is my mushroom budding into another mushroom? I've only had it for about a week. I took the pic yesterday and today morning the little extra mushroom was gone. Its in the lower right hand corner of the pic. It seems like a miniature shroom is hanging of thew original.

mushroom in a blender, I'm going to prove or disprove it

If you prove this right, it will be awesome as it will give a good way of using only one mushroom to seed a tank Good Luck

Changed CC to Sand, Have a Few Questions

I've only had the firefish about a month and the blennie about a week, so I hope they don't get eaten. I'll try and see the different sand cleaners and what people have said about them and if I don't answer my questions will probably make a thread asking about it Oh and FalynHarris you might...

Changed CC to Sand, Have a Few Questions

I tried feeding her (mine is a she too) shrimp and krill tied to a string but so far to no success. I'm going to try again and hope it works this time. Oh and I try and feed her both normal brine shrimp and enriched brine shrimp to give it some nutrients. So far she has been fine (I'll have had...

    Yellow tang wont eat...

Try sheets of algae or lettuce. i recently saw a couple of tangs attacking a piece of lettuce at my LFS. You can use a clip to hold it in place. They are called feeding clips I think, but I'm not entirely sure

Changed CC to Sand, Have a Few Questions

What do you feed it and how often? I haven't noticed an unusual amount of waste, but I feed it daily w/ brine shrimp. If you feed it less frequently w/ larger meals, maybe it digests it worse, or maybe the waste is just more in one pile. I'm just guessing, and you should probably ask in the...

Changed CC to Sand, Have a Few Questions

Changing it out was a pain , but it was well worth it (tank looks sooo much better) Hewres a good thread with advice on how to make the change: https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/170311/crushed-coral-want-to-get-rid-of-it What I did was to take an ice chest, a few trash can and rinse them out...

Changed CC to Sand, Have a Few Questions

I spent most of the day changing the CC I had in my tank to a sand bed. I wish I had started w/ sand I reviewed the arguments for both sand and CC and decided to change to sand. I finally finished and when the dust settled the tank looks much nicer now (also gave me a chance to really clean...

Can Sunlight Be Used To Sustain Corals?

Unfortunately, my setup is such that the filter, biowheel and the lights are built into the hood, so if i replace one I have to replace all. I will replace it eventually, but right now that may be a little too expensive

Can Sunlight Be Used To Sustain Corals?

I was at my LFS and bought a single mushroom polyp (green) to see if it will get enough light. I hope it does well and that will show that I might be able to have corals/clams. If it doesn't then corals/clams will just have to wait till I get better hood and lights.

    Missing SixLine Wasse

Another place it could have gone is buried itself in the substrate... My friend had a wrasse and he lost it in his tank too one day, so I helped him look and we finally found its nose sticking out of the CC! When he tried to get it out (thinking it was dead) it bolted out of the CC and swam away.

Can Sunlight Be Used To Sustain Corals?

I thought that the sunlight plus the meager lights I have might be enough for low-moderate light species, especially because I'm in Southern California, and the sun is almost always shinning, at times through the window directly at the tank (closer to the end of the day) Is there any way to...

Can Sunlight Be Used To Sustain Corals?

Hi, Its been a long time since I posted last. My tank is doing fine so far, both my clown fish and dwarf lion seem happy (Oh and I got my fuzzy lionfish to eat brine shrimp, something my local pet store considered impossible) Anyways now that summer vacation has started, I plan on improving my...

    Odd Anemone-looking Creatures

Sponges huh? Well as long as they are harmless and don't need to be feed they'll make a nice addition to my tank :happyfish Now the tiny white snails seem to be a minor annoyance. Is there anything that should be done to regulate their population or will they just eventually fade away?
