    looking for a certain shark

Bonnetheads average between 3-4 feet long, but can grow as large as 5 1/2 feet. In other words, way too big for a 125 (actually, that tank is too small for ANY shark). I did a search for the sailcat. I didn't find any info on people keeping them in aquariums...looks like it's mostly a game...

    Where's Lionfish???

I just did a search of Lionfish's previous posts to help find an answer to Hawkeye's question. According to the search feature, Lionfish hasn't posted to this forum since July 10. Does anyone know what happened to him? I definately noticed that he hasn't been around, but I was suprised to see...

    Lions

Hawkeye, Lionfish is the resident expert on all things, well, lionfish. Unfortunately, he seems to have dissappeared. I did a search of his previous posts and found this... "Dwarf Lions need at least a 45 gallon to live in and to thrive and look healthy you will need a 55 gallon or higher. I...

    fish for a 150 ?

Well, if you went snorkling in West Palm you'd be in the Atlantic. (Unless you're talking about a West Palm other than the one in SE Florida.) :D FTC

    blue spotted stingray question

From what I've read, up to 12 inches. But you have to keep in mind that that's diameter not just length. You can keep a foot-long fish in a 75 gallon because the fish is relatively narrow. But the ray is not only 12 inches long, it's also 12 inches wide. I think you could keep one in a tank...

    Shark

You're welcome. :D Actually, the sharks moderate these boards and got their position by demonstrating a considerable amount of knowledge and experience as well as a willingness to help others.

    Shark

You have a mother and a father who are sharks and they do the whole "birds and bees" thing and they have a baby shark. ;)

    Tesselata Eel or Snowflake?

From what I've heard they're very aggressive. You would probably be better off with the snowflake. FTC

IT MIGHT WORK OUT AFTER ALL!

A ray, too? I'm afraid you'll have to get rid of it as well. Rays have the same type of cartilage that sharks do. You're triggers will definately kill the shark and the ray, it's just a matter of time. Get rid of them as soon as possible. Keeping anything with an undulated is risky. What...

Looking to Start a 180 gal tank

Pete, I'm certainly no expert...but IMO not less than 300 gallons for even a small species. I've thought alot about it and I'm absolutely against people keeping sharks. I have to admit, I'm starting to lean toward the position that we shouldn't be keeping fish at all. Sure, they're...

Looking to Start a 180 gal tank

Well, that's true...but the problem is people plan to upgrade then, when the time comes, don't. Dead shark. If you absolutely, positively HAVE to get a shark and all you can afford right now is a 180, wait a few months and save your money until you can afford a tank large enough to give it a...

Looking to Start a 180 gal tank

No sharks in a 180. You could get some really cool fish, though...I'm jealous.

    Shark

No way. They will grow to the size of their tank...then they'll die because they won't STOP growing after they reach the size of the tank. FTC

    Volitan lion ?

Thanks Lionfish, I expected as much but I wasn't sure. One other question, do volitans generally maintain their color as they age, or do the colors change? FTC BTW, I'm glad you decided to stay :) .

    Electrified Water in Tanks

Hello again, Wingsnfins :p . From a purely scientific standpoint, if the fish aren't grounded, any parasites in the tank wouldn't be grounded either, so I doubt any electrical treatments would be very effective. :) Sounds like it was a careless mistake by the lfs. The worker who put his...

    Volitan lion ?

Hi all, Is there any difference between "black" and "red" Volitan lions? Are they separate species or is it just a difference of coloring? I've seen references on this board to Black Volitans and I notice that the store sells them as being black or red, but the scientific name is the same...
