    Chemistry Help

Yea, it may also be a CO2 issue keeping my pH down. The tank is new, and I've never been able to keep my pH high, but it seems like adding mag and 2-part actually lowered things there for a while. Who knows...

    Chemistry Help

I recently set up a Solana aquarium, and I've started dosing a mix-it-yourself 2 part solution from Bulk Reef Supply. I noticed that my pH and calcium were always low from my salt (Reef Crystals), so I've been dosing magnesium (Tech M) to help get it up. The Reef Crystals originally mixed...

    6 gallon nano help

Don't fear the 6 gallon tank. I have one, and it is my first tank and is doing great. I have a cleaner shrimp, some zoanthids and shrooms and ricordias. Eventually zoanthids will spread to another rock, but it helps to upgrade the lights that come in the tank. I bought a tank from...

    Chaeto vs caulerpa?

I had some of both in my small 6 gallon tank, and it was the worst mess I've ever had. The chaeto hosted a lot of pods and they both helped keep my pH stable, but they took over everything. It was ridiculous, even getting to the point that they grew over top of and killed a patch of zoanthids...

    I have a weird problem...

:notsure: In an effort to reduce nitrates and in general make my 6 gallon tank's pH more stable, I added some chaeto and some caluerpa directly to the tank. Long story short, it spread like a weed and is constantly coming back on my rocks. Is there any thing I can do, other than buy new rocks...

    Blue Zoanthids

I bought some psuedo rare blue zoas yesterday, and I was reading online that they often times like less light and will turn brown in higher lighting. I have a very small tank with lots of light (6 gallons/54 watts), and I was wondering if you guys thought they should be placed down low or...

    Happening In North Carolina

What part of NC are you from? I am from Charlotte, but I'm at college in Raleigh, and I can tell you that Raleigh has far more and much better fish stores than Charlotte. Several stores in the Raleigh area setup frag swaps once a month or so. Check out "downundersaltwaterdotcom"

Nano Tank Frags to real Reef

Hey grumpy, do you have anything you want to trade? I'm in raleigh and I always am looking for someone to trade with. Right now I have four ricordias that I just cut up and a three polyp piece of zoas that are bright green. I also have a piece of marshall island rock that I want to get rid...

    aquapod lights ??

A friend of mine has a 24 gallon aquapod, and he said the ballast that it came with can support 40 watt bulbs even though they stock it with only 32 watt bulbs. Look into that when you replace them!

Refractometer or a salinity tester Plastic one

I heard Instant Ocean hydrometers can be as much as .004 off of your actual salinity, while other hydrometers are generally about .002 off. Get a refractometer; you'll be glad you did.

Hey , new mini reef pics

I don't think you need to wait 6 months before you add any coral. It doesn't take that long for the tank you be setup and ready, especially on one that size. I'd wait a couple months and toss in some zoas/shrooms/rics and as long as you don't go crazy they'll be ok. I have a 6 gallon Nanocube...

    Nano Refugium

I have really bad green algae in my tank, so I bought some caulerpa. Do you guys think it will help get rid of it? If not, what will? I know to turn my white lights down, but the thing is that they are already only on for like 5 hours/day, with my actinics on for like 8. Any ideas?

    Noob with nano

For under a thousand bucks, I might suggest going with a nanocustoms tank. I have a 6 gallon, and they do an exceptional job at re-working their tanks. They are kinda high, but the lighting is amazing, and you'll want it someday probably.

    Nano Refugium

Can you not just put caulerpa or chaeto in the main part of the tank? Is the light to strong or the flow too rough maybe? That is what I want to do.
