Do I need to buffer with Alk if I have corals? Doesnt water changes keep this up or am I getting confused? 1 frogspawn and 1 st fungia plate.

Hey do you guys stick the stalk o fthe frogspawn in the sand so the head is facing up? I put mine in sideways between two rocks however I notice this way the head underneath doesnt get as much light. However it seems happy. Any thoughts?
