Anybody Have An Auto-top Off System?

I've got a Tunze Osmolator on my 125. It sure makes life much simpler especially when I'm out of town for a few days. It is not the cheapest system, but the optical sensor with the back up overfull sensor is one of the most reliable methods on the market. A lot of folks use various forms of DIY...

    Solaris Lighting Systems/'Acrylic,Lion,Viper,et.al.'

I saw one this afternoon at a LFS that I stumbled across. It was impressive in its lighting intensity, and certainly was much cooler temperature than MH fixtures. I didn't ask how long they had it up and going, but all the corals in the tank looked to be doing very well. Still, from what I've...

Aqua C Remora vs Coralife Skimmer

I've had a Remora C Pro for several months now, and am very satisfied with it. Some complain of the "hissing" sound they make, but I don't notice it - it helps to be hard of hearing maybe! Chris

    Tunze NanoStream vs. Hydor Koralia

I've got several of the Tunze 6025's and have nothing but good to say about them. I'm waiting on the 6045's to come out, plan on getting one to finish things up for a while (famous last words......!) I've not much experience with Hydors, have heard nothing but good about them, but I am sold on...

    Marine betta ??

I'll have to agree with the other replys you have received. They will do just fine. Had one for over three years, and would still have it if my DW hadn't wanted to take a two week trip to Disneyland and take all the kids, leaving my fish with nobody to care for them. Grrrrr....... Chris

    Question about Remora skimmer

It is normal for the skimmer to go through periods of no skimmate being produced. Did you rinse off the prefilter before installing? If not, some production oils may still be on it which will inhibit it from skimming for several days. Chris

    salt mix

I got a bucket of IO several years ago that apparently got some moisture in it prior to my getting it. Being very Scottish, I tried to use it. Dumb move on my part - not the first time, and likely not the last. It is probably totally unrelated, but that is when I switched to -- and have had...

are ebo jagers submersible or not? What heater is best?

Just got a new Jager last week, model 3606, 150W to replace an older one that I was just not comfortable with. The box is marked "submersible" and it has a minimum water line on the upper body. There is no mention of not submersing it fully, but I have and my GFI hasn't complained yet! Chris

    Travel trailer NCC question

If you are looking at a travel trailer for camping, there is a whole lot more factors to consider than NCC. Please feel free to contact me directly at [with any questions - I'm sure most on this forum aren't interested in RV talk! Chris

Aqua C Remora Pro Skimmer vs. Prizm Pro Deluxe Skimmer?

I've seen some tanks that run multiple HOB skimmers, I guess in a worst case scenario that would be better than too little. The Remora Pro is a great skimmer IMHO Chris

Are you supposed to shut off pumps when doing a water change?

Bear in mind that I'm not an expert by any means, but what I do is leave them running unless they will be exposed due to lower levels. I've always refrained from running any of my pumps/PH dry as it certainly will not do them any good. Chris

    quick question remora pro

Just got a Remora Pro several weeks ago. I went with the Mag. My reasoning was twofold - the Mag's have a great reputation compared to possible problems with the Rio and there were a number of recommendations to do so. The only thing I don't like much is the drain fitting on the cup. I'm going...

    Electric Bill POLL:

I guess this is one area that I just don't want to even think about. When the DW tells me we don't have enough money to pay the electric bill I'll deal with it then. Very similar to pulling into the gas station with my RV. Very rare that somebody doesn't come up to me while filling and ask what...
