    Lost everything

There have been no changes to the tank or anything for at least a year. Same salt and all. I just drained the tank. What should I do now? Should I fill it back up with fresh or salt water and drain it again? Should I take everything out and hand clean it? The rocks are still purple but I...

    Lost everything

The temp again today in the tank was around 75ish with no lights on all day. Would a drop of a few degrees kill everything? I tested for stray voltage and at most 5.5 volts was in the tank, which I researched and is not uncommon. So I do not think that is what caused it, but maybe I don't...

    Lost everything

I got home at everything is lost. The tank is extremely cloudy for some reason and the fish are floating and the corals are brown and dead. The sand bed is green. I have no idea what happened. The tank is at 76 degrees after being under the lights for eight hours. Usually the tank is closer...

    Lost everything

I am away on work and I got a call from home that my tank was extremely cloudy. Sun night I topped off with fresh RO/DI and all was good. They say everything looks dead inside the tank and the smell is extremely bad. Corals and fish were lost. Any idea what would cause a perfectly good tank...

How to get rid of coralline on my glass?

I have a 55gal that is 75% covered in coraline on the back glass. I have a scaper but I don't want to disturb anything by removing that much coraline and have it floating around my tank. Any suggestions or tips?

    Something wrong with toadstool coral?

I installed new powerheads a few weeks ago and my everything was perfect until a few weeks ago. My question is why would one coral seem so bloated in the trunk area and have no tentacles flowing but the same coral next to it is doing great? At times the timid coral does open up. Also...

Is it normal for a Goby to eat sand all day long?

So I took the little guy back on Saturday. Let me tell you what a PITA it was to get him out. I had to take my entire tank down. 100lbs of LR and corals all had to be moved because he was hiding under the bottom rocks. What a pain. Anyway, all is back to normal now. Although one coral is...

What do you do for water?

RO/DI unit here. It is hooked up to the main faucet so we use it for our drinking water too. You can tell a big difference in taste from the RO water compared to the tap.

Is it normal for a Goby to eat sand all day long?

I have a new tank member and all he does is take a mouth full of sand and spit what he does not want back out. I got him for this reason, but he is taking large mouth fulls and spitting it out which is causing the sand to cover my rocks and coral and making the water not as clear because of...

What would help get rid of this algae?

I have an RO/DI unit. I have snails and crabs that don't seem to be on the sand very much. The problem with the flow is I can't seem to get a powerhead close to the sand because it blows it all over. I have about a 15x turnover rate per hour. Suggestions?

    Nemo Jumped

So my tank had more water than usual in it and today I discovered Nemo jumped and killed himself. I have had him for a year and a few days ago I added a few new coral. My tank has a cover on it but a few inches in a corner is exposed. What could have caused this? Are Nemos known jumpers?

Few questions about my tank w/pictures.

At the base of my coral there is discoloration which I do not know if it is normal. It has been like that for a while. Also in the picture of the tank, what is the sheet-like green stuff growing? It has been there for a few months. 55-gal. Thanks
