    ID, Aiptasia?

They retract into the tube, not into the rock. Are colonial hydroids harmful?

    ID, Aiptasia?

There are a few colonies of these sprouting up. They have a red/purple tube and sort of a green top. Aiptasia maybe?

    27 gallon hex

Just a 20" PC right now. I'm planning on upgrading to MH later on. It seems to be doing alright for the corals that hitched in, one of them has already split.

    27 gallon hex

I keep the trunk closed, there's an airgap out of the back of it to keep the condensation down. I'm planning on the clown, two bangaii cardinals, and a fire shrimp. I'll have to upgrade the lighting before I start seriously thinking about any corals. I have since added a skimmer to the sump...

    Really weird hitch hiker

Ha ha, didn't have anything else nearby, and since it was in the open I figured I'd catch it quick... shhh, she doesn't know.

    27 gallon hex

    27 gallon hex

I suppose I technically have a nano. It's been a few months in the making but here's some pictures... You can see the leak test in my garage, and then after I painted it set up in our living room. The steamer trunk in front holds the sump, it was made in the early 1900's. Got it cheap ;)...

    Really weird hitch hiker

Well I thought "if it's eating my snails, it's probably bad" here's what it looks like out of the tank.

    Really weird hitch hiker

I saw this thing in the tank tonight. It appears to be munching on a nassarius snail or perhaps a hermit (that's the bulb at the end, a shell). Any ideas? Help! It's about 3" long dangling from a rock.

    New Tank

I'm hoping to keep the same sump when I move to a bigger tank to reduce cost (and keep the wifey happy). I didn't get T-5's because I couldn't find a set small enough, 24" was the smallest I found. The PC's seemed to get more light output in a smaller area, I could be wrong though. I'm planning...

    New Tank

Hi all, I'm new to this hobby but have always wanted a saltwater tank. I got a 27gal hex (less than ideal, I know) for free and decided to dive in. I've been lurking and reading for about two months now and am about ready to start the tank. I drilled the hex for an overflow to a 20 gal sump...
