can a sand bottom be "sucked"? just wondering how to go about cleaning a sand bottom....can a regular gravel cleaner be used or will it suck the sand outa the tank?

naw the tank isnt established it is a retired fresh tank from about 2 years ago...... im keeping my damsels.......i have 4 different types and i love them...domino,blue,3 stripe and a brownish color one with purple fins... i know there are better and more beautiful fish out there but not a big...

im gona go ahead and change the substrate in my 30 gallon to sand..... my question is can my 4 damsels,2 clown gobies and scooter blenny live in a 10 gallon for a day or 2 while the sand settles? i know damsels are cheap but i havent seen these since i bought them and i dont want thm to die. and...

thanks.........i wouldnt be worried bout my crabs or shrimp but the damsels,gobies and the blenny i wouldnt want to drop right back into it due to the sand particle in the water........ just wondering if they would survive in a small 10 gallon tank for a day or 2?

thinkin bout changin the substrate in my 30 gallon. right now i have a crushed coral/sand mix that im not happy with. the tank has been setup since jan. this year. and has 4 damsels,scooter blenny,CBShrimp. shunk shrimp,some hermits and 2 clown gobies. 1.....i want to go with just a sand bottom...

they wife dont want another "big" aquarium right now since we'll be moving in a few months..... i was thinkin about the 14high that wal mart has,,,,,,but its almost as much as the 30......... thanks for the heads up on the NEMO's.......

my LFS has "HOLEY" rock for 1.99 lb and im thinkin bout going to get a piece that they have had for ever now.......its about 2ft long....13-14in tall....8in wide...... for my 30 gallon tank.....think itll look alright in there........or would a chunk o' rock that big in there not look right? my...

my daughter wants a "NEMO" tank. and i have a spare 10 gal sittin in the closet....would that work for a pair of pperc's or tomato's or something?? also.......would that size be ok for a QT tank? thanks dj

i retested my ph and mow i have a reading of 8.0 after i done my gravel cleaning........WTF......will just do maintnance affect things that much?

im using the RED SEA starter kit that ***** sells that comes with the RED SEA test kits. thats where i got my info...i was confusing it with my fresh tank since i tested both the same day. as for the buff......i dont have to use it that often? or not at all? i just rechecked my ph and its 7.8...

well my chart said and book said 7.8-7.2 for salt.......and i add the buff like it says........which i guess is keeping it around that..... when i first set the tank up it was around 7.6 or so,that what our water here reads at. if bringing my ph up that hi will my other tankmates be ok at that...

as a matter of fact the day he started losing his arm i changed the filter cartridges in the filter. could that have anything to do with it? or just coiencedence(SP)?
