FS: 125 Gal Tank + more (never used)

I want to sell this as a pkg unless the aquarium goes w/o the rest. I'm not willing to do any shipping since most of this weighs (especially the baserock) too much to be worthwhile IMO.

FS: 125 Gal Tank + more (never used)

After getting it half set up, I've decided not to do this tank. I have over $1000 invested, but will sell the set for $600. Everything is new, the tank was set up w/ fresh water to check for leaks but no fish, rocks, sand, etc... were even put in. Here is the list: - 125 All Glass Aquarium w/...

Custom Stand for tank w/ built in overflow

I guess since it was bumped up its a good time to put lessons learned. Tank is filled on the stand. First conclusion, way over-engineered. The think didn't budge or show any signs of problems. My main lesson learned... Try to give yourself more space where the overflows are for hooking up...

    Southdown Sand spotted

Just bought a bunch at the Home Depot in Gaithersburg, MD (on Shady Grove). They probably have 40-50 bags still.

Custom Stand for tank w/ built in overflow

what i mean is that your green boards have no ability to support weight. The only weight supporting members are the ouside edges. You want to distribute the weight throughout the frame as much as possible. It would probably work, but if you get any torque from the top it could collapse IMHO...

Custom Stand for tank w/ built in overflow

your cross braces need to be braced by something to the floor. besides that you will be ok. also, depending on how close your putting your tank to that back corner, the overflows can hit. mine are only 1 1/2 from the corner of the tank. See these pictures to see what i did (sorry they are a...

Custom Stand for tank w/ built in overflow

I finished my this weekend based on these plans. Worked like a charm, and isn't going to have any issues with the weight. I'll take some pictures in the next day or so and post them.

Custom Stand for tank w/ built in overflow

Here is the design I'm considering. I think it needs some cross bracing to prevent folding. Opinons welcome.

Custom Stand for tank w/ built in overflow

I bought a 125 AGA tank with dual built in overflows. The stand I had designed is not going to work because the overflow holes are to close to the corner. I'm going to need to design a stand that does not have full support at the back corners. I have one designed, but I was hoping somebody...

    Interesting debate--would like feedback

I've been in the hobby for about a year and a half. It seems to me like most beginners don't learn anything and just buy fish w/o any concern about size, compatability or care. How you could possibly buy $2000 in fish that quickly beats me. Personally, I won't put a new fish into my tank...

    Suicidal fish...

Thanks all. He seems to be doing fine, out and eating just like nothing happened. I guess he got unlucky and jumped out... I would love to have more than 1, but w/ a 29 gallon tank, 3 fish is my limit. -Jim

    Fish List for new tank

I'm planning on starting a new 125 gallon (72") FOWLR tank. It will have a sump of size TBD. I'm struggling w/ what fish to put in because of compatabilities (this is driving the tank so I want to figure this out first). maroon clown hippo tang yellow tang snowflake moray eel volitan lion...

    Suicidal fish...

Piece of plastic attached to the glass cover. Why shouldn't it be covered? It will help prevent evaporation also. Its not like its air tight since the power filter and other cords have holes in the cover. Just curious now...

    Suicidal fish...

I was there, but wasn't watching at that exact second. The flame angel usually just swims by the firefish. They don't seem to care about each other. About the only thing I can figure so far is that the angel swims through the rock more than anything else i have in the tank including the...

    Suicidal fish...

I've had a 29 gallon running for about a year and a half. For the last 9 months it had a cleaner shrimp, firefish and clown. I put a flame angel in almost 2 weeks ago. Yesterday, the firefish just jumped out of the tank. Luckily I was there and heard it and put him back in within 10 seconds...
