    even if it WAS cycled but you took everything out - the bacteria would die off if it had no "food" so if it was empty for any period of time then it could still be a cycle.

    so while your QT was empty - there was no source of ammonia? If that is the case then you are cycling I would assume. I am not an expert though! Hopefully someone can help you out though.
