Do you have the lights on right now if you do I would turn them off for awhile and I would put some seaweed that was soaked in garlic in there so he could have something to eat. It might take him awhile to get use to you coming to the tank but I wish you luck, he should be fine once he start eating.
Yes the lights are on, ill turn them off now...I actually had seaweed too, so I went ahead an put that in, I found him eating the two little pellets I put in earlier....Thanks so much for the help!! I have never done a QT tank before either, just got lucky and havent had any problems but after reading everything on here I thought I better not take the chance anymore, so how long do you normally keep them in there? Is a week to short if he was doing well?

I would do a couple of weeks just to make sure, glad I could help you out. If he is eating fine then I would put him in the DT but keep an eye on the trigger when you do and I would move some rocks around too before you put him in.

If they won't give you a refund see if they will let you get something else for the price that you paid for that fish if you do decide to take the fish back, but I hope you don't have too.

No, you dont need to HYPO, you will do that just if you see sings of ick. Keep an eye on the fish, and good luck

Did you check how much copper was in the water before you put him in and how did you acclimate him and how long.

Well I cant find a copper tester, two LFS and dont have one...But when I put the copper in I only put the dose indicated, but I worried about that today after reading some things about copper and Tangs being sensitive to it, so I completed a water change today, in the QT tank...I drip acclimated him for one hour...I havent seen any change in behavior today, sometimes looks good then in one spot he will flap his side fins real fast and thats when he turns reallly dark, then it goes away, never seen this behavior before...but when I got him I tested the water from the store from the bag just to see and the Nitrates were off the charts! Dont know if this would make a difference

It might but I doughty it, so your lfs can't test for copper.

No not the little store in town but the bigger one is far away but I have to go out there for a drs visit so im gonna visit that store on Thurs, just dont know if he would be ok to keep waiting, you think its still copper since I only put 1tsp in 10gal and then did a 50% water change, it would still be that high?

It might be but I am not sure just keep an eye on him and try to get him to eat, soak some garlic in the food that you will be feeding him to get him to eat and try to get the water tested as soon as you can. I wish you luck I hope he pulls throw, good luck.

yes he has been eating frozen brine shrimp and flakes, I have been watching him there for about 2 weeks now, he seemed like he was being bullied by another Tang last time I was there, but that Tang was already gone when I got there. He hasnt been swimming since I got him home but he did at the store..
The readings on my QT are
Nitrite 0.25
Nitrate 0
Ammonia 0
PH 8.2
Salinity 35
SG 1.026
Temp 79
well I just saw him swim a little but once he saw me he went back to the corner
I'm surprised no one said this - you have nitrIte - that is poisonous to fish. My guess is this might be part of the problem.

well and I actaully had a question about that because my QT tank has been up for 6 weeks the past 4 weeks nothing has been in it, but still running, the nitrite level has been that and ive done 50 water changes twice, ive tried stress zyme, ive tried prime, I cant get that little .25 down, an dont know why at first I used water from my 75gal because the water is perfect, so I dont know whats going on or how else to get it down

How is the Tang doing today?
Sorry if I might have missed it, but how much water flow do you have going on in the QT? Tangs need heavy flow and highly oxigenated water.
You might consider starting a thread in the New Hobbyist forum with questions about your QT.....I am far from a QT expert, but the people whom can help you might be overlooking your thread due to the title.

well not so well here is an updated picture in this thread
https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/328479/sick-lavender-tang
I tried posting a new thread in the disease section hoping someone could figure this out....I do not have really much in my QT just a filter, sand, crumbled rock..I never really used it, so its not set up right at all...He would def be happy in my 75gal but it hasnt even been a week yet in QT and im so afraid of my entire tank getting something like ick....Ill look in those threads about QT Thanks!!

so while your QT was empty - there was no source of ammonia? If that is the case then you are cycling I would assume. I am not an expert though! Hopefully someone can help you out though.

even if it WAS cycled but you took everything out - the bacteria would die off if it had no "food" so if it was empty for any period of time then it could still be a cycle.

Well I appreciate everyones reponses, but I decided to take him back to the LFS thought it would be best, in case any other disease could be spread to my DT tank, when I brought him back the lady said he turns dark brown like that all the time, its a stress thing, So there must have been something wrong with him because I dont think thats normal, she offered me a refund or trade, so I took a Valentini Puffer, heres a picture, its blurry hes moves soo fast!
