    Too hot?

Why does everyone say ditch the glass lids? I'm curious, never found an answer for this one.

    Too hot?

Towards the end of my MH cycle, the tank will get up to about 83.5, and with just the T5's or the moon lights its around 80.7. Am I running to warm? I am also running glass lids, so I may try removing them to shave a degree. Any ideas? When I get the sump up and running, that should drop some...

6x54 T5 setup keep any coral?

Well the unit I wanted was out of stock so I went with a 2x250w MH with 4x54w T5 setup by Current USA. I hope it all works out.

6x54 T5 setup keep any coral?

I have a 75g setup now with a PC setup and looking to get new lights. I'm looking at the Nova Extreme Pro or whatever 6x54 T5 setup with individual reflectors. Can I keep SPS's under this? How about clams on the sand bed? I'm trying to stay away from MH due to the cost. Thanks, Steve

General rule of thumb for maximum allowed fish?

What is the general rule of thumb for the max amount of marine fish allowed in a single tank? All my fish are babies right now with the biggest at probably 2" I have a 75g and a soon to be 20g sump. Besides my CUC and corals, here's my fish: False Perc Clown Yellow Tang Blue Hippo Tang Powder...

Getting ready to start my sump build!

My overflow has a single intake, I'm sure its the PF800, its on the box :D. I'm going to run the return line into a T right over the sump. It will be a straight shot right up into the display tank one way on the T, and then it will turn right back into the sump with going the other way off the...

    Old Freshwater Tank

Removal the gravel first. Then rinse the tank thoroughly with clean water. For a QT tank you don't really want a substrate. Maybe a fake plant and some PVC piping for the fish to hide in.

Getting ready to start my sump build!

I have the Eshopps PF-800 overflow box, Mag 9.5 return pump and I bought a 20g long tank. I am going to draw it out and get some rough ideas on measurements. I am going to hopefully be adding a Octopus skimmer and fuge to the sump. I guess now is the time to start drawing and designing! I'm...

    Lighting Question

I'm curious as well, the 6 bulb Pro will keep clams? I'm debating between that or the 2-250w MH + T5 setup for my 75g, however it's almost 3x as much! Sorry to thread jack.

    Changing my setup!

I meant the NW-150, thanks! I am not a huge fan on the remora so far. It seems to be drawing a LOT of water out of my tank as well as waste.

    Changing my setup!

Ok, here's what I've decided on. 20g long sump Octopus NV-150 skimmer Mag 9.5 return pump Eshopps PF800 HOB overflow The NV-150 skimmer will fit in a 20g long sump right? That's my only concern.

    Changing my setup!

Hey, Right now I have no sump on my 75g and am using standard AquaC Remora skimmer. I am planning building a 20g sump in the very near future and getting a skimmer for the sump. Any recommendations? I keep hearing about Octopus skimmers, any advice? Also, how are eShoppes HOB overflows? Thanks.

I think I lost my first fish...

I pulled the anemone out today, I noticed it like that yesterday and like I saw, no coral or other fish harm yet.

I think I lost my first fish...

Not to ich and not to being sick. I saw the clown last night swimming odd and then I noticed his tail being white and he had almost like a bite or sting mark on his back top fin. Now I also saw my anemone croaked as well. I can't find the fish today but the anemone definitely died. Did my...

    DIY sumpoverflow question...

I'm thinking about installing a 20L sump under my 75 gallon reef to simply get more water in the system. My tank is not drilled, nor will I drill it. My only option seems to be a HOB overflow. However, these rely on siphons and in the event of a power failure, I could be screwed if it pumps...

    What's wrong with my tank?

I haven't changed any water yet (going to mix today, been VERY busy) but I did look at the tank closely today. The debris is not nearly as bad on the top of the water now. It's less then half of what it was a couple days ago and the algae is subsiding some. Its not gone by any means, but it...

    What's wrong with my tank?

It's a 75 gallon tank and I can only mix 19 gallons at a time (my biggest bin) so I can't do that big of a change. I can attempt to do all 19, but man thats a lot of water to change.
