I haven't heard that but I know all our little critters can do funny things for some and none for others. Mine don't touch them.

    Full Aquarium Shots....

Here's my sad tank. Needs a lot of work but I enjoyed everyone else's pics so.... 55g. Cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, red knobby star and very extroverted pink and blue spot goby. Couple crabs and snails too. Oh, and a whole lot of vermetid snails.

something that looks like the tip of an ice cream cone???

They are harmless filter feeders. However, they can multiply rapidly. And when they feed, they cast out this web/string/net-like stuff. Some people don't mind them, but many find them a nuisance especially when they are in mass-porportions....like in my tank right now.

I couldn't see anything.... Doesn't matter though...He was dead when I went to check. He was soooo cute and full of personality...sometimes I just feel like I'm doomed.

I have had this very cute little guy for about 2 months and all has been fine. Eats well, looks healthy, stays really curious whenever I get next to tank...I just fed my fish - Marine Cuisine which I alternate with other foods and he was fine out eating and then I walked by the tank and he's...

    Possible Hitchhiker Question

Update: Before going to be bed I was watching my newly found peanut worm when here came another...out of the first hole I witnessed it stretching out from. And this guy looked totally different as far as color is concerned but I'm guessing it too, is another peanut worm. Are there any great...

    Possible Hitchhiker Question

I've looked at different pics of peanut worms and only a few resembled what I saw. It was much darker than the worm in your pic and much more slender.

    Possible Hitchhiker Question

I'm leaning towards a possible peanut worm based on research I've been doing and what I remember it looking like. Why did I post such a random question and then turn around and answer it myself? lol....

    Possible Hitchhiker Question

2 nights ago I peered into my tank with my flashlight and saw some...arm...or leg or worm something stretched out of a hole in one of live rocks. It was dark in color and did not appear to have any 'bristles' on it and retracted once I shone the light on it. Ok, I know all kinds of things can be...

Posting here b/c I'm acting like new hobbyist....

I just wish our LFS was open on Sundays. It drives me absolutely insane & it just never fails that I usually end up NEEDING to go there when they're not open. But, at least I even have a LFS... I'm glad my enthusiasm is back. I've missed enjoying my tank and visiting these boards on a regular basis.

Posting here b/c I'm acting like new hobbyist....

Yeah, I'm pretty positive this is a lawnmower blenny....I've had the fortunate experience to work in LFStores through college and took a personal interest back when I had a 60g salt tank and a 55g cichlid tank. I can usually recognize and correctly name most fish, I just haven't always had the...

I've spent a lot of time in front of my tank after the lights have been off and never seen anything that exciting....but I'll keep looking. Yeah, our LFS is...well.....not that great but I have had long term luck with some of the critters I've bought from them. I have my own knowledge that I...

Posting here b/c I'm acting like new hobbyist....

I also saw a lawnmower blenny today at my LFS who I thought was huge! He had to have been between 5-6 inches long! He wasn't labeled as a LMB but a spotted goby/blenny? I don't remember for sure but he looked just like the Orange Spotten LMB seen here at SWF.com....And he was priced at $16.99 I...

Posting here b/c I'm acting like new hobbyist....

Oh I've had my share of fish...everything from false percs, scooter blenny, firefish goby, flame angel, but my latest fish that has just..."disappeared" was my white sleeper goby. I just saw him 2 days ago, but today? Nowhere to be found. I'm slightly hesitant to dive in and get more fish until...

    Revisiting the hobby

Welcome back to the hobby! I just posted earlier this evening and feel like even though I've had my tank set up for not quite a year, I'm revisiting the hobby as well....we are all always learning! At least I am! I can't answer your filtration questions....but as far as transporting RO/DI...

Posting here b/c I'm acting like new hobbyist....

I have had my 55 gal tank set up since Christmas of last year....recently, my tank looked more like a kelp forest (although not quite as pretty and inhabited) with what I'm assuming is hair algae and I'm down to these tank inhabitants: 1 Peppermint Shrimp 1 Cleaner Shrimp 1 Red Knobby Star Few...
