    What the heck is this?

    I got this from my LFS for free so I was pretty happy, however I don't know what it is, so I don't want to add it to my main population till I do. It's about 1/2" in diameter and when it is fully extended its about 1". Thanks for your help!

    Try feeding them thawed out Mysis shrimp or Brine shrimp, Mysis is an appetite stimulator and should help the clown to get his hunger back. How long have you had them in the tank, and how long has the tank been established?

    I think that they are just a Xenia or sorts, there is also the possibility that they are star polyps but I'm not sure.

    +1 They are called Q-Tip sponges and are a great filter feeder in your tank, most of the time they all die off as the tanks gets more established.

    Very good to have, you will see little bite marks in the algae on your glass from the night before. They don't like the light too much.

The "Lysmata wurdemanni" is the particular species that you want, not the more commonly found brother "Lysmata californica". Google to tell the difference, and buy one for every 15...

    crab id

    It could be an Anemone Crab, they are a white and brown mixed crab. The most defining feature is that they have filter catching nets on their front claws.
