    NEWBIE 200 gal build diary

I had a TERRIBLE cyno outbreak, sand, rocks, even some coral's started to get covered. I got some phosban, and also some phophate removal sponge that you could cut to size. Also did 75% water changes 4 times in 2 weeks. Come to find out the MH bulbs I had JUST put in, were not producing at...

Do Blue Spot Jawfish just disappear sometimes?

I have searched and searched. I have had mine for about a week, it made a nice little burrow, came home from work today and it was not there. I have a covered tank, but searched around the floor just to make sure, nothing. I have no idea where it could have went. Do they go into hiding...

    New Tank. Few Questions?

if the fish store said it woudl be ok then I am sure it would be. I dont think you could really have "too much" but I dont know, i have never came across anything that talks about too much filtration. will be curious what you decide to add! Good luck!

    New Tank. Few Questions?

if your going to run Metal Halides you will need a chiller regardless and most SPS corals will need the Metal Halide I think, though with a 20g you may be able to get away with a T5. For Mushrooms, ricordia, stuff like that a T5 will be fine. As far as bottom feeders always a good idea, get...

    New Tank. Few Questions?

the filter should be fine, rated for 40 gallons, you should be ok with it on your 20. I would say you are done with the fish, but you could probably get an anemone in there after everything is cycled. At least 6 months before adding an anemone is what i have read though! A tank like that...

    wandering and shrinking purple tip

I am new to anemones, I just got one. But read ALOT before I purchased one just to make sure I knew what i was getting myself into. The one thing that comes to my mind is that while you moved it, could you have possibly torn the anemones base? I have read that once that happens they will...

Is my Anemone dying? Green Bubble Tip

I got a new green bubble tip anemone yesterday, acclimated it, and put it in last night. IT was in for a bout 2 hours with the lights on, (after about 1 hour with the lights off). This morning (lights off) it was about the size of a quarter, and looked very shriveled up at the front of my 75g...

I have went through and looked at all your pictures, just amazing!!! All your fish are gorgeous, and seem very well taken care of! I love the Dussunier tang, GORGEOUS! I was wondering if you would sell any of your ricordia's? Again FANTASTIC tank/tanks!

Spray Paint Eggcrate cover with Fish line weaved in?

ok, thanks for your input. And I have 500W of Metal Halide on the tank, along with 160w of Actinics. From what I have read, eggcrate actually lets more light through than glass lids. I am guessing because of the film that glass lids get after a little while of being used. here is the link I...

Spray Paint Eggcrate cover with Fish line weaved in?

Would it be safe to spray paint the white egg crate cover I have (also with fishing line tightly wove in to make the holes smaller)? I would of course let it dry for 24 hours at least. But I didnt know if I needed to worry about the saltwater reacting with the paint over time?

Cyno outbreak after moving to new tank.

I had a TERRBILE cyno outbreak after moving a tank. My Nitrates and Phosphates where the problem. Lots of water changes, to get the nitrates down and some phosguard, or phosphate filtering media did the trick for me in just a couple of weeks.
