    Lots of starfish

Will do. They come to the front glass when the lights are out but I think you will be able to see them. I'll have a pic or two in the next day or so.

    Lots of starfish

I was wondering if anyone ever had this happen to them. About 4 years ago someone gave me a starfish. It looked like an orange linka but wasn't as fat. I had it for about 3 years and then never saw it again. About 6 months ago I noticed tiny white specs on the glass. When I used a magnifying...

Hair algae and gfo opinions wanted

Thanks for the help. I never realized I was over feeding so much. I'll cut it way back and add algae sheets for the Yellow Tang.

Hair algae and gfo opinions wanted

I would say it covers about 20-30% of the rock and isn't getting worse but not getting better. I hand pick it when it's long enough. It doesn't bother the corals though. I feed 2 cubes of various frozen shrimp 1x per day and have 1 med/large yellow tang, 1 med/large clown, 1 med goby and a med...

Hair algae and gfo opinions wanted

Thanks for the help. I thought the same thing about the 0s. I was going to get a reactor for the gfo but I put carbon in a filter bag and put it above the bio balls now so if you're having good luck with the gfo I think I'll do the same. Do you run carbon and gfo 24/7 or do you do it...

Hair algae and gfo opinions wanted

I do have corals. My protein skimmer is up and running and I've started using rodi water a few weeks ago for everything. I rinse the frozen shrimp before feeding and have lights turned down to about 6 hours. Any other suggestions? Thanks

Hair algae and gfo opinions wanted

Can anybody tell me if they use gfo to help control hair algae problems? Anybody know the pros and cons and if you use it do you need a reactor for it? Thanks, I've had a hair algae problem for a while and heard it would help.

    ro/di questions-help please

Thanks for the info. I'm going to need about 6 gallons a week or so. If I just let the unit run for 5 or 6 hours into a tub with a cover I suppose I wouldn't need an auto shut off. Is that how you do it and do you use a pressure meter and a hand held tds meter?

    ro/di questions-help please

I'd appreciate any help I can get on an ro/di unit. I have well water and I see 3, 4,5 & 6 stage units. I'd like to spend only what I have to but don't know what to get. I have a 5 micron whole house filter on my water now and see that most come with a 5 micro in the 1st stage. Does that mean I...

float switch to prevent tank overflow

2 drains is a good idea. If I thought of that I would have done it. I'm looking into a low voltage float switch that would shut off my pump since I can't drill any more holes with the tank in use. Thanks for the input.

float switch to prevent tank overflow

Thanks. The tank is a glass 4'x18"x24"h and is drilled on the bottom in each back corner and then connected with bulkheads, 1 for water in and 1 for water out. The one on the right has a 1" pvc pipe that comes straight up and is about an 1" or so below the very top of the tank so water siphons...

float switch to prevent tank overflow

Can anyone tell me if they have any overflow prevention on their reef tank? This morning a snail went down my overflow even though I built a screen to prevent this and I had water over flowing out the top of the tank everywhere. I certainly need some kind of float switch or suggestions on how to...

    Snake's Custom 125g Idea

Great design. Here are my thoughts for what it's worth. If you decided to go with a sand bed I believe you could use 175w mh especially if 5 or 6"s deep since the tank would now be about 18". That way you could save on the electric bill and heat. Since mh fixtures are a point source of lighting...
