Thaks Rob, I guess I should have bee more specific. I know copper is lethal to reefs, I was thinking of the fish only sys. and as far as I kow most of the lfs will use copper in the fish sys. They just do not advertise it.

I Know that most lfs have copper i their systems, Do they also run a uv steriliser alog with the copper? If they do is that over kill?

Restore A/b and Reef solutions

Vermillion, I have a devils hand in my tank and once every couple months it shrivels up and it turns bluish for about 2 to 4 days. After that it opens back up better than ever.(just my experience with a devils hand!)

I work part time at local shop. I have two costumers that have bought that stuff and use it with good results (acording to them), When my heater screw my reef and I had the problem with ick I did not have the guts to use it. It just scares me to death to add stuff like that to my reef!

Instant Ocean salt states to use a 1/2 cup per galon and using a hydrometer get the gravity betwen 1.020 to 1.023. I have never use a specific mesure in cups, just use your hydrometer to the level that you want. I keep my reef @ 1.024 and my fish only @ 1.023. I also like to mix my salt outside...

I would start running the lights for about 6 hourd a day increasing 30 minutes every other day until you get to about 12 hours actinic and 10 to 11 day light. This is what has worked for me, I hope this helps

I just tested my reef and my alkalinity mesured at 6.5 meq/l. I doze my reef with restore, my calc 360, Ph-8.3, amo 0, trite 0, trate 0. I had problems in the past with fastest. Do you guys soupose that it could be that high with out hurting anything or again a bum test kit? :confused:

Looks like sinularia or lemnalia.

Damsel, It is a pterogorgia (sea fan) is kind of cool loking. The polyps come out of the edges of the flat branches. I guess is pretty commond around florida and pretty cheap too. Thank you all for the kind comments
