Criticize my sump/fuge plumbing design please!!!

I'm not Kip or Broomer, but I live near Kip and I bought some lights from Broomer :D The return from the fuge to the sump will be fine under water. You could drill holes if you want, but it shouldn't be necessary unless you are running a high amount of water through your fuge, which you...

    Flame Angel for trade/sale NC

I have a Flame Angel I need to get rid of. It has started nipping at polyps so he has to go. I got him from SWF and he has been in my tank since April. Would be fish for a FO setup. Local trades only. I am in Lexington, NC. If no responces by this weekend, he goes to the LFS (if I can catch...

    Pro's advice needed!

I have a 125 AGA with dual corner overflows running two MAG 9's. The drains are 1" and the returns are 3/4". The 1" drains handle the water fine, but the overflows are just a little slower than I'd like. That could be solved by opening the holes a little with a dremel tool or something. I also...

    Couple of electrical/lighting questions

I am thinking of upgrading to metal halides and have a couple of questions. 1. I'm thinking of going with a 3 250 watt setup (probably IceCap ballasts, but undecided). Can I wire all 3 ballasts to one IceCap timer, or do I need a seperate timer for each? Supposedly the timer can handle 1000...

Opinions on MH setup on 125g

Currently on my 125g I have 2 Icecap 660's running 4 6' VHO bulbs. I have been thinking about adding Metal Halides and am trying to decide which way to go. I was considering going with three 175's or two 250's. I plan on keeping a few SPS and mabye a clam but I don't want to overpower my tank. I...

    Ice Cap Canopy Fan

Tripp, I have 2 of these mounted in the top (lid) of my canopy. I used a scroll saw to cut a round hole the size of the fan opening. I then drilled holes and used nuts and bolts to mount it to the outside of the lid. I think it comes with screws but they weren't long enough.

    Substitute for baffles

Stumpdog -- I used a rubbermaid pitcher to drain both of my overflows into. I drilled holes near the bottom on one side and turned tihe holes away from the pumps in a corner. I didn't have much of a problem with bubbles to begin with, but I don't have any now. HTH

    sump setup questions

I will be setting up a 125 aga with 2 built-in overflows soon. My 55g dosen't have an overflow so I am new to sumps/refugiums and have a few questions. I plan on using a couple of Rubbermaid type containers. I don't plan on using a wet/dry, but plan on using a skimmer later on. Do I need to have...

So, what happens if I loose power?

I just went 5 days without power in the recent ice storm down here. The temp. in the tank eventually dropped into the 40's. Needless to say, I lost everything and am going through another cycle. I have a generator now so I'm prepared for the next time. By the way, my tank was also 55g. HTH
