    red legged hermits

I'd forgotten about this thread. Turns out it was a sally lightfoot that was eating everything. He kept getting bigger and bigger and I kept losing other crabs and stuff until I finally caught him killing the hermits when they were switching shells. He looked like a 5" spider by the time I...

    ICH Questions?

I bought 1 tiny cleaner wrasse at a local aquarium (I usually buy all my fish from SF.com) within a week I came home one day and found a hermit crab eating away on it. That didn't shock me as much as noticing little white spots all over the fish. That was about 2 weeks ago. I pulled the last...

    Peppermint shrimp

I have about 15 peppermint shrimp in my tank and about 6 or 7 have eggs clinging underneath them. Is there anything I can do to help keep the babies after the eggs are laid. This seems to be an ongoing thing in my tank but I've yet to see any new shrimp.

    anyone in Columbus, Ohio?

the return filter is about an inch beneath the water level and when i try to raise it the sump level gets too low and then bubbles fill the tank. When i put a screen inside the return to keep the shrimp from getting sucked into it seemed to change the flow again. i know it's supposed to just be...

well, after sitting up all night-I didn't see anything strange. Just a long stretch worm and a clam like thing. Nothing else has died yet so I'm just going to let it go for awhile before I add any morre crabs back in. Thanks everyone for your inputs.

    red legged hermits

ok then, tonights the night. I don't have a red light but I do have a blacklight. I'll try sitting up and watching the tank all night. (I can't believe I'm cancelling a date for this-I just have to know if there's something nasty in my tank) I have seen the coral shrimp chase after the...

    red legged hermits

If I sit around the tank at night can I use a flashlight to check out what's going on? Will it scare everything? What should I be looking for? I've seen some long worms ans what looked like a clam come out of the live rock but that's it so far.

    red legged hermits

seems to be the big ones only. All my peppermint shrimp are still alive. The emerald left behind dark green pinchers but the peppermints and the coral banded shrimp left clear shells. I'm still watching for him, he could be hiding in the live rock-I only saw him out once. I had the tank set up...

    red legged hermits

Thanks for the input everybody. The blue legs are tiny and I bought 50 shells to put in the tank so I don't think there's a shortage of housing. I've been watching for the emerald crab, just in case it was just the molt, but haven't seen it alive in the tank yet but I'm not giving up hope either.

    red legged hermits

I found what was left of my emerald crab yesterday, mostly the claws and empty body. Something is definately eating whatever it can get. The emerald crab was bigger than everything else but the coral shrimp. Will coral shrimp eat the other crabs?

I've started a 75 gal. tank and something is eating my red legged hermits. It looks like they're being pulled right out of the shells. Here's all I have in the tank, I was told it would all be ok. 2 large turbo snails, 10 small turbo snails, 1 banded coral shrimp, 10 peppermint shrimp, 3 serpent...
