You can go to home depot and get fittings to fit any combination of pump size.
For a good pump I would recommend pond master brand. Mines been up and running almost 8 months solid now. I have it choked off to about 50% power. I have a pond master 1800, payed $120 for it. LOVE IT!

I have an Iwaki RLT100 it'll pump 2000gph 25 feet straight up. I wouldn't put it in a living room though...

It is never recomended to choke or downsize the input side of a pump. It's allowable on the output side. Why must it be 1" input?
The pump i was looking at is 3/4" in and out. I have decided on holes for 1" bulkheads and the 1" wavemaker. I was just thinking the pump aught to be 1" also. But I guess it really doesnt matter.

No biggie...upsizing the input is perfectly fine. Make sure when you make your connections between your pump and bulkhead in the sump, that you use a shut off valve(ball) and a union. That way when you take the pump out for service, that you can shut the waterflow off and easily remove the pump and reinstall in minutes....
