Sorry to hear that, Guy. When I was 17 a drunk turned in right in front of me on the highway and I hit head on. My head went thru the windshield [no seatbelt]. If I had not been wearing pretty good sunglass, I'm sure I would have been blinded by the glass shards.
Glad to hear your step-D is ok!

 I wittnessed a buck run in front of a car when I lived in Virgina. That poor thing flew up on the hood of the car and went into the window of the car partially. Fortunately the person driving it, saw him coming and was able to keep control of the car and got out before the buck starting jumping around.
It was getting dangerous and he couldn't get out. Another car came along and he had a gun (hunter) and shot the buck. This was all before cell phone days. No one in the car was injured either. But man o man, can they do damage.
Glad everyone is Okay!! You too Beth

Glad to hear she's ok. That's a pretty scary thing at any age, let alone 17 and just learning to drive. Did you get to keep the deer? Reminds me of my father-in-law a few years ago. Hit a deer on his way to hunting camp with his Ford Explorer. Only deer he got that weekend. My husband's hunting this weekend and hopefully he'll get one. I bought 2 new fish last night that are in QT (sailfin and six-line). Hopefully he'll come home in a good mood and won't notice.

I was sitting next to her. There was nothing different she could have done. It was Deer one instant and airbags the next.
Some jerk in a pickup stole the seer while the EMTs were checking us out. I can't imagine very much unbruised meat though, we hit it broadside.

Somehow I don't think my stepfather would have been so understanding and losing the deer would have really sent him over the edge
Again, glad everyone's okay.

Yeah, my insurance even has a lower deductible if you hit a deer. Something about if an animal runs in front of you, but if you hit the animal and then hit a non moving object, you have to pay the whole deductible. It is wierd, but unfortunately I learned from experience.

that was a close one. Like I said....the accident I wittnessed was something else. When that deer started trying to get away and couldn't because he was stuck in the windshield. :nope:
Very sad.

That sort of accident is very common here in KY , its hunting season here for deer, and they are running rampid to get away from all the hunters in the woods.
Not to mention that they rut this time of year and are on the move pretty steadily.
I too am glad everyone in the car is okay, that could have been a very bad outcome.
