Here are some pictures of my 12 gallon aquapod i set up yesterday. Will keep everyone posted on my progress. I'm going to put a piece of cocktail shrimp in it tomorrow for ammonia for my cycle. I also put the thermometer wire in the back after i found out what the temperature in the front stays at, 79.5 with the lights off and 80.3 with the lights on. Any comments/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking!

pull the shrimp out after a night.
That temp range is pretty darn good.
looks like you got flow taken care of too! Did you already yank the bioballs and stuff?
I'd also add alittle more rock... like one or two more pieces...

Yeah i'll put the shrimp in tomorrow night around 8 and take it out at 8 in the morning. I've been lucky with the temperature, i went with a 25 watt heater and it works great. I still have the bioballs, carbon, etc still in the back, what do you suggest i put back there? I'm getting a couple more pieces of rock tomorrow, i'm also getting a maxi-jet 900 submersible pump as well, i heard they work much better.

Is the 900 the biggest that will fit? I know thats the case with the biocube 14, but never looked at the back of an aquapod. Get the bioballs out NOW! lol pitch them in the trash or save them for later (maybe need them for a freshwater app?) Keep the carbon running in there...
After the cycle is over, this is what I'd do:
bag of rowaphos, bag of chemipure, bag of purigen. See if you can work out some sort of way to light a chaeto fuge with an led or something in a back chamber. Key to success is exporting nitrates and phosphates (typically the hardest to do.) If you wanna be slick, look up the algae scrubber thread in the reef section (mega nitrate, phosphate, everything remover or something is the title of it.) This is the best solution if you followng the proper cleaning instructons of it...

The 1200 is the biggest that will fit, but my friend who has a nanocube said that it was almost too strong. I've heard many good things about the 900. I'm planning on taking out the bioballs today, if i go buy some live rock rubble would that work back there in their place? I also have carbon and ceramic(Stuff) in the back...theres no real way i could put a small led in the back, i'm thinking about getting the venom light and buying a smaller led light to put back there...tell me what you think...

i think rotary is the guy on here against liverock rubble in the back? and im in the same opinion it really just doesnt do much. i have cheato in my middle chamber with a 8 watt light. take ur rubble and just use it for frags or something in ur DT. and in my 14 i have the 900 as my pump, along with a koralia nano. it almost seems to much but i have no buildup on my sandbed. it blows around my xenia but oh well

where can i get cheato, and an 8 watt light...does your lid still close?
And after i get this it will be set up with my sponge filter in the first section, my cheato in my second section, carbon in the 3rd and my pump in the last...sound good?

noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is what you need to do!
well first of all you really dont need a skimmer. it really doesnt help. as long as you do proper water changes you are good. doing a refugium is the best way to go. remove everything you got in the back and place a cup with mud or sand in it. put lr rubble in the cup. and place the chaeto on top of it. make sure to have holes or cut a piece of the cup so the water can flow through. also place a bag of chemipure elite. in the 3rd chamber. and if you can a bag of purigen put in 1st chamber but its not necessary. i got mangrove in mine and its the best. its gotten way bigger than before. i will post a pic of my refugium. remove everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no sponge carbon or anything. nitrates stay get trap there. are you need is chaeto, mud in a cup with a small lr rubble if you wanna grow pods and thats it. plus the chemipure elite and purigen.

thanks...i'll make an attemt at doing that sometime this week. making sure i understand you...take everything out(filter too?) i'll put the cup/cheato/lrubble in the back...what kind of light do i need? and will i have to take the hood off?

no need to remove the hood. just do this. get a cup and punch holes in the side. place some sand or mud whatever is your desire and put one small lr rubble so your pods can hide and run around like crazy like mine do lol. then put chaeto ontop of that. doesnt matter how many watts you get. 1 watt is good enough. it could be an led if you want
