Didn't notice anything, they both looked very healthy to me. I took the slightly larger one. I literally spent 2 hours watching them. I think Mike (that's the owner's name by the way) was ready to kill me. I just had to make sure with the purchase since they're such a finicky fish. I made him feed twice to be positive they didn't just eat because they were starving (which some fish stores do so the fish will eat when the customer asks). They both ate both times and ate about the same amount each time, which confirmed for me that they're healthy fish at an exceptional price.
The only discoloration I noticed is that they get stressed out easily and then their color fades.
So far I've gotten mine to eat Cyclops, PE Mysis, ArctiPods, Brine Shrimp and San Francisco Bay Brand Emerald Entree. It hasn't went near the coral or the clam.
She's really funny, she sleeps with her nose against the glass.

If you can't get there this weekend (I know you don't drive) and really want the fish, let me know, I can pick it up for you. I'm going there to buy an acan for my husband for Valentine's Day. Wow! We are complete dorks!

haha wow thats really nice thank you!!
I will let you know whats going on by friday though. Im just worried about my tank not being stable yet. I only set it up a few days ago but have well established lr and some aragonite. I guess ill test my water to see what its at and if worst comes to worst ill put it in another tank lol
What do you think??

It may not be ready yet, especially for this type of fish.
You've got some options: I can pick up the fish and keep it for you until your tank is ready or you can ask Mike to hold it for you.
If you really want an Orange Spotted Filefish, I wouldn't pass it up. I read so much on them and how difficult 95% of them are to get onto prepared foods instead of SPS. In the wild, they feed exclusively on SPS polyps.
Let me know, if you want me to pick it up and even if you want me to hold it for awhile, I can. I'll PM you my e-mail and phone # if you want.

I agree with everything u said. I think I'm going to go on sat after work to his place and get a clip on little refugium light. Does he have those? And ask him to hold the filefish then ill come back for it after the max time he will hold it for me. I hope its still there! Haha

You'll probably have to order that light. Why not order it through your job?

If you're serious about this filefish, I strongly suggest you read through my thread and the links. A great poster wrote some good stuff

Camera sucks, you should all know the routine by now. The blue is more vibrant, but my actinic ballast is broken in this tank right now so the colors don't pop as much, especially when you're taking a picture. This fish was so hard to capture on film, but here ya go:

The Yasha Goby felt up to taking pictures tonight:

Friends:

And the Yasha (so glad she's popping up again):

looking great btw

LOL ... the tank is an absolute disaster. I'm having real issues with the layout. I hate the rocks. I feel like it needs to go higher.

I've got to work on getting the zoanthids off the darn plugs. They really hinder where I can put things.
I really should have rearranged BEFORE I bought this fish and after I got rid of Mr. Coral Eating Clownfish, but oh well. I'll give the filefish about 7-10 more days to get cozy in the tank and then I'll slowly start moving things around.
Going to be switching salts soon. Time to re-try Tropic Marin and/or Red Sea Pro. Any suggestions? I currently use Coralife and I like it in the 155G, but it never works when I have corals in this tank as well
Tropic Marin does nothing for the 155 but always stimulates growth in this one. The whole "no two tanks are the same" thing is definitely true.
