Hey Matt, beautiful wrasses. I just bought a fairy wrasse a phissy today, I will try to get some pictures up soon. Just wondering if you could look at my diary thread and look at the link on the last post and let me know what you think. I have not been able to find anyone to answer my question about a PH controller for a calcium reactor I just got.

I took all the frags out of the 75 so it can be just a QT. I got a tomini tang and a powder brown tang today, Straight from the whole saler. I just put them in the 75g with the wrasses and will move everything over in a month or 3 weeks if everything is still healthy then.

And I see you're using your magfloat at an algae clip, haha!

Well I work fo a guy that grows and sells corals in a green house. His website was posted in the begining of the thread. And he went out to LA to cherry pick corals from whole salers to grow out and frag. And he also sells fish some times. So he also sent back a bunch of fish. So I just picked these out of the batch he sent back. So they came straight from the whole saler to my tank.

Yeah I did not have an algae clip so gotta use what you have LOL.

Do you fans both blow in to the canopy or both blow out or one in and one out? Still no temp problems? I'm hoping to start on a canopy soon and I like your design, although I may skip the doors and just flip the top open when I want to get in there. Do you find that it's much more work to just flip the top open?
What size fans did you use? If you happy with there output and lack of noise do you mind sharing the make and model?

They are icecap 4in. I love everything icecap makes. The noise level is not bad at all. I have one blowing in and one sucking air out. I also have a sunlight supply 6in clip on fan on the side of the canopy wherre the fan that blows out is. Cause the one 4in fan does not really reach the far right MH bulb. I will take some pix for you. I thought I would just flip the top open more then using the doors but I use the doors alot more. On my 75g I just have the piano hinge. I am happy with both but like having the doors along with the piano hinge. I also have a small fan blowing on all the ballasts under the stand cause they get pretty warm. But yeah I have NO heat problems. Temp does not fluxuate one degree.

Just some updated pix. Nothing really new. I might pick up a SPS or two next weekend but I am really not in any hurry or need to buy corals right now. I never thought I would be like this but I am just really happy with the tank.

looks great. I really like how the lace rock turned out under the halides. Is it really that dark under the rock or just the photo? If it is that dark how does no light creep in from the back side?

If you look there is some light coming in from the back. And it is that dark under the rocks. They may not seem like it but they are really big pieces of shelf rock. The rock is not further back then the overflows come out. So there is a big space in the middle back.

Wow! Very nice tank!!
But damn, you got alot of snails. lol
I don't like having to clean the glass
And scarlet hermits are expensive and blue legs kill snails left and right. All I have are some hermits from my 75g, two cleaner shrimp, like 4 emerald crabs, 3 pepermint shrimp, And about 60 astrea snails.

sorry a couple more questions about the lighting/canopy. DO you have 1 vho in front and 1 in back? I was pretty sure you did, but the pics look like there are two in front, maybe just a reflection. Do you have a reflector for the vho bulbs? The VHO kits on hello lights indicate that they need glass in between them and the water. Are you doing that with yours? Got a recommendation for actinic 72 inch VHO bulbs? thanks again

I have one in the front and one in the back. I do not have glass between the lights and water. I have water proof end caps. So I just clean the salt creep off my bulbs every month or so. I cant remember what VHO bulbs I have but I have everything I could get in icecap. I am not sure why they say you need the glass. Maybe their endcaps are not water proof? And I do not have reflectors for the VHOs. VHOs have internal reflectors. I will check to see what brand the bulbs are in a min. All you need is the endcaps and the stand offs and an icecap 660 ballast.

thanks, I didn't think I needed reflectors for VHO, but then I saw someone selling them and got confused. Any advantage to running the 660 instead of the 430, since 430 can power two 72 bulbs too?
