not a bad deal, but you really get what you pay for with a light... MH and T5HOs are worlds better than powercompacts... you'll seriously be like "why did I ever do that to myself?" if you do the switch lol..

ok so i gots anothe question: so i bought some live rock yesterday from a different fish store. to transport it home he gave me a 5g bucket with no water in it. i figured ok thats fine, i will just let the stuff die off and start with what i already have. now for the question
the rock sat out for about half an hour mostly dryish, what kind of spike am i looking for on the rock?

not much if you tossed it in immediately after.

well heres the thing: i got the water from my 14g nano that i drained(really bad leak) so i some in the 10g. then i bought some pre-cured rock and sand and mixed it with sone bagged sand. so i dont really even know if i will get any type of spike cuz of that. but i may be wrong(probly am i just wanted to make sure). i also dont want to kill any fish. that is y i ask. cuz he(snail) is just going all over having a fun time.

for the light, remember what i pmed you. google it i guarantee you will find something.
a little trick i learned from my good buddy sharkbait, ammonia chips in a filter sock, stick it in your tank. i still do it. it always works! be aware that the tank will raise in nitrates, just as a part of a cycle. it worked great for me. there is a filter media that absorbs nitrate, i just cant remember at the top of my head. refugiums will lower nitrate as well. the algae absorbs the nitrate and throw out the extra growth. check out the DIY mini fuge for aqua clear 30. google that. otherwise just stick to basic water changes. i would still wait a little bit until your cycle is over. i dont think it was a good idea to get the LR in a dry bucket. LR bacteria starts to die as soon as it hits air, causing spikes in water parameters. I have a little nitrate in my nano, i just did a water change. I am gona test it 2m see how it goes. I am def considering a fuge in my nano chamber to reduce nitrate as well. i just need chaeto. you should look into the aqua clear mini fuge. JMO..

i ordered that aqua clear filter the other day. so im just waiting on that to come in. i also let my new filter & biowheel sit in my 55g's filter for 2 days to get some bacteria groth on it to. i was told that it speeds p the bacteria growth. as far as the LR goes how long does it take for it to show signs that life has been lost? cuz i got a little green stuff that has grown on it today/lastnight. some kind of alge. i just have one of those cheapo dish lights that are used for work lights/reptile cages. so idk if that is what its from or not. i also have been adding a lil bit of food in there everytime i feed my 55g. i ws told to do that before to help out the cycle.

yeah ghost feeding is always a plus. as far as the LR goes, its too late to do anything what's dead has to be grown back. if you see algae then i wouldl assume its growing.
if i am not mistaken bio wheel is the little wheel that turns by water movement? take that wheel out. even tho clean water sprays on it, all the junk still stays in it. ex nitrate nitrite ammonia etc
post some pics of the mini fuge project when you start!

will def post pics of the fuge when i start. as far as the bio-wheel goes, im gonna leave it on for now just because i hve it on my 55g with no problems at all. it also quites the water movement down some. so that helps me out. sleeping that is.
