I think that skimmer needs to be sumbmerged in the water up to the white part in order to work right. Maybe not, but thats how I do mine...?

more then likely im gonna go with a Clown goby, emerald crab, boxing crab, and some type of shrimp.
Not sure on corals yet but i might frag some stalks of xena from my 12g and add a few mushrooms and zoos.

It works just find the way it is. And with it being that high im getting more of the surface water.

It is supposed to be where that white filter pad is just submerged you could put the pump to the side But if its skimming ok like that
what ever works.

According to the instructions the pump could go under it or to the side. I think the reason people assume the filter should be submerged is because thats where the water leaves the skimmer. Since mine is above the water my water trickles down the skimmer and runs back into the tank. When i had the filter submerged i had way more micro bubbles in the tank then i do now.
This skimmer was designed to go inside the aquapod filter area in back of tank.
So far its working just fine, if i have trouble with it i will move it.

I agree Golby/Pistol shrimp combo is the way to go.

I was just curious where you work at. I noticed the HUMS sticker on the wall behind the tank. Do you work for Goodrich?

I use to be stationed at Ft. Campbell in '98, when I was in the Army. I know a guy that works for Goodrich. I think hes still out at PAX River MD. We call him up every now and then when we have a problem.
Good Luck with the Nano

i wish i could clip on my skimmer instead of suctioning it to the inside of my tank...takes up too much space in my 12g nano cube

Yeah i know Lou Pretty good. He is a Marine like myself. Was in Iraq with him a few years ago when we did the HUMS installs on 4th BATT's 60s.
If my current contract here with the 101st doesn't get extended i may end up going to work with Lou in Pax River.
