Are you saying you put the powder directly into your tank??
Do you have any livestock yet??

I came across (some mysterious article dealing with Kalk that you are apparently not allowed to read)
... I would suggest monitoring your alkalinity. If it keeps dropping too low, then you would probably need to do a total water change to get your minerals back in sync.

The good news is that you have no live stock. The bad news is kalk mixing is a tad more complicated than that. And I literally mean a tad. But the question is, why you added it... Just a plain batch of newly mixed saltwater will have all the calcium you will need in order to maintain a healthy tank and even grow coralline. Down the road, after you introduce hard corals, then after you introduce a few more will you then see your levels drop to warrent kalk.
But anywho... If you want my personel kalk recipe (for later of course)
I put one tablespoon white vinager in a small pitcher, add 1/2 to 1 TEAspoon kalk powder, mix well then add 2 quarts of RO and I drip it slowly into the tank. Once I forgot and started pouring it in, and my corals let me know real quit this wasn't an ordinary RO top off. I then saved the rest to be aded slowly over the next 24 hours... Don't think I got the whole pitcher though...

lol so probably my best bet right now is to do a water change? i replaced about 9 gallons out of 29 today.. you should i should just let it sit and jst keep doing 9-9-9-9 until it clears or just do a full one?

Tizzo, why the vinager? I just started kalk about 4 weeks ago. couldn't keep my cal up. I started slow and now I'm doing 2 teas of kent per 1.5 gal ro water. tank seems to like it but cal reading (360) have not come up as much as I suspected. also the alk is still down around 8-9. I'm still behind the top off water should I increase the kalk or drip?
any thoughts?
Thanks
Tim

I'm glad this post started. I've been looking at adding Kalk because my calcium seems to be stuck at 400. I need to read up more how often to kalk and any more useful information.
I'm using B-ionic and I have live sand. My Ph is 8.2 and alk is 9. Not sure what is keeping the calcium down. Is it possible to have too many rocks, plants, ... in the tank that the calc is being absorbed too fast. Something like that.
Typically, how long should it take to get the calcium level from 400 to 440? I've been using the B-ionic for about a week. I use instant ocean salt and someone here said that could be causing the problem.

If you want a good article on using kalkwasser and "why vinegar" go to google and type in "kalkwasser" in the search bar. Click on the first link...
