what does G n R have to do with Lars???
i cant say who if anyone has asked Lars to collaborate... i would imagine that he has been approached though... and he has also produced several other bands albums... i really dont see your point here... if you think that collaborating on an album is the pinnacle then Lil Jon must be the rapper ever...
Ok, I have more respect for you based off those 4 songs.
I am making a correlation between GNR and Metallica, by default the members were viewed as the greatest due to their affiliation with the bands and their popularity. In both bands. Basically I am saying you have drank from the koolaid that is Lars and succumbed.
The comment regarding collaborations and such, to this day even recent bands seek out Lombardo to play on their album for a song or two. Lee, Bonham, Castillo, Barker, Lombardo have all done it. It shows a versatility they possess and a respect for their skills. Lars has NEVER done this. Nor has he been asked to my knowledge. Anyone can bang a drum kit hard, my 5 year old can do it and it sounds decent, but the technical nuances, added showmanship and flair and hitting hard have to encompass the entire package....Lars is lacking in some of these categories.
Don't get me wrong, he is a decent drummer, but the greatest of that era, that is a huge stretch....Castillo could drum circles around him. Factor in Lar's arrogance and attitude for his own fans....and this drops him down even furhter.

In the unlimited classes, they are over 180db today, but you're just talking about a shell of a van wrapped around a lexan box with subs inside.
Moderate system should get you into the 150's today. Completely off the shelf stuff into the 140's, depending on your box volume

Oh ya I've seen them but I dnk the exact DB's
Those vans are just retarded to me though....I mean you can kill yourself with that much noise. Wheres the enjoyment?

I don't think I know anyone with a system that loud (140-150db), but then again never measured....?
Most I ever put in my firebird was two 12's in an average box, two 15's in a custom made trunk box, with two 1000 watt amps? Didn't seem as loud as a jet at all?? However it did get me pulled over instantly....

I think the part of the enjoyment is in building the setups, but probably just get a kick out of building something louder then your competitors. Seeing as how most dB drags don't last more then 5 seconds, it's really not about listening. Back when I was really into systems, I was much more into SQ then SPL. 24k gold interconnects, perfect driver positioning, ahhh, I found that much cooler then a bunch of big subs that only lasted one or two runs before they burned the subs up overdriving them...
As far as being louder then a jet, that relates more to different hertz and sound ranges. Most subs produce extremely low range hertz soundwaves, something which the human ear isn't terrific on picking up, but you certainly 'feel' the subs. As where a screaming loud jet engine is usually pretty high pitched, and in the sound range you'd tend to 'hear' better.

Seriously? The only thing Lars had going for him was the double bass....Take that away (which is simple) and he would be out drummed by Ricky Rocket.....Yeah, I said it!
Dave Lombardo
Tommy Lee
Neil Pert
Nikko McBrain---far superior double kick drummer than Lars.
Rick Allen

I was 14, and into lacrosse and B-Ball, and basically raising hell.
On a side note:
Lars is just a douchebag. Love Mettalica, but Lars is a whiner.
I'm not sure who Dave Lombardo is, but this is his song "the B- Side Wins Again", with DJ Spooky ????. put on video of some of the dog sports I love. Stick with it for a couple of min. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YM8CvsRvIMI

I was thinking more of the " If the drummer is good people will want to collaborate with them" post. Who would have thought the drummer from slayer would collaborate with DJ Spooky, whoever the hell that is. I got a good image in my head of what he looks like though

I was at that game, somewhere I still have the ticket stub. I'll never forget that day, took forever and a half to get home. Rumors running rampant on the radio, some of them true, some of them not so much.
