Good that you can find silver lining after such an event. Thought maybe you were a surfer and were going to comment on huge waves or something along those lines. Wasn't expecting jungle-gym...tough to fit that into a conversation not pertaining to playground equipment
.
I looked at it like I was camping with a fishtank, and my normal bed... It made it fun. Even if all I ate was canned food for a couple of days...

For me, that is the worst part! Nothing to eat!!!! I hate canned food and everything in the fridge starts to spoil. I survived on dry cereal and crackers!
I've never been afraid for my life. The post Andrew houses are built to a pretty strict hurricane code. I have accordian shutters, so if a storm comes I close the shutters and go to bed. Now the only thing I worry about is my fish.

I was hoping that the next morning the krogers next to my house would open and put their steaks on sale. Since they had no power but they didn't...

I hope everyone is safe but we could use a big season this year. Home building/repairs could use the business.
And we can get some of the money back out of the evil insurance companies.

I cannot predict how many or where they will hit. BUT I can say there is nothing quite like sitting in a room with out electricity listing to that never ending freight train running over your house

nothing like living in paradise hoping every year you have a house from now until Novembet. I hope no Major storms hit. My mother lives in Tampa. I will take snow over fearing for my life anytime.

I'm not far from there. Two of those seasons really worry me. Severe Thunderstorms and major snowstorms. Both could mean a power outage for days.

Very true, but I'd still take the train vs. freezing to till stuck in a car in the snowbank or the absolute silence after a blizzard with no power, listening to your roof creak and moan anyway, wondering if it will hold the tons of snow on top...

There will be no hurricanes in the US this year. With all the hot air blowing out of the north east (Washington DC) the storms will all be pushed into the north Atlantic and peter out.

I will contribute this to the thread as I have done b4..... Make sure your generators are in good working condition for the sake of your tanks!!! No better time than now to have them serviced or purchased b4 the flood of folks when one is right off the coast.

+1 to that! The Co. my hubby works for sells these little 'baby' ones, no louder than a hair dryer. Purchased 1 for each tank, and of course the 'big' one for the house. We have lived in both locales and even tho we hate the cold, a snowstorm is much safer and romantic!

What's the name of the company? I had to use a friends generator last year after being without power a few days...me nor the rest of my neighborhood were going to sleep with the noise from that thing...luckily after about 3 hours of it running power was finally restored.

It is www.dpciwholesale.com. Their inventory is always changing and they have a 1000 watt now. Great investment for your tank(s).
