Just checked CNN...Chile had 2 more substantial earthquakes (I know that they are aftershocks....but they are still BIG quakes), a 7.2 and a 6.9. How many "major" earthquakes have there been so far this year? Haiti, Chile, Turkey....people in California have to be worried sick about the San Andreas fault....maybe the Mayans were a little off?

Remember the year of the shark, CNN, MSNBC and all the papers were all over the "FACT" that sharks were striking back and the waters would never be safe again. It was (I think) 2006, and they all said it was the worst year on record for shark attacks, but it turned out to be far less than the norm, they had worked people AND themselves into a tizzy and it was all based are speculation and sensationalism, it had nothing to do with fact.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Geologists with the Oklahoma Geological Survey said nine earthquakes shook central Oklahoma on Thursday.

The earthquakes were recorded in Canadian County in the early-morning hours of March 11, geologists said. Several were felt in Niles and Minco, geologists said.
According to information on the OGS' Web site:
"The six largest earthquakes locations are very well constrained and on relocation we expect the magnitude 2.1 earthquake to centered with the cluster. The cluster of six earthquakes is 7 miles west of Union City, Oklahoma, in Canadian County near the border with both Grady and Caddo Counties. The cluster is about 11 miles SSW of El Reno."
No damage or injuries were reported.
If you felt the earthquake, let us know on the KOCO.com Live Wire.
