yes its a retro system. and yes you can build that for the amount i said. i dont sell lighting but i can help you build yours.
this is just the main display of my tanks. i have a few others. total in lighting for all systems is just over 3000 watts. i run a aqua logic 1hp chiller along with two sequence hammer pumps. i run now two large euro reef skimmers both are recirculated with sedra 5000 pumps. my total power each month runs around 450-500.

the song is buy a very famus hawiian man by the name of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. many know him by IZ. to hear his voice is one thing but when you see the man its coming out of it takes on a whole new meaning.

i have a 120 G but
i am going to start a 400 G in February and my 120 will be the wet dry( i 'll have a big aqua c remora pro protein skiimer in there and a big mood system ) what would you think will be the best choice in lighning??
i mean how much would be fine i was thinking in putting exacly the same 1600 + watts system as yours and i thing it will be ok !!

well my first thought is you CAN NOT use the aqua C remora on a 400 gallon tank. its limited on the 120 but no way for the 400.
to know what lighting you need i need to know the size of the tank. W xD xH

i run a euro reef RC1000 and a -- 250. IMO your best choice would be the Rc500. there are others skimmers out there but once you try a euro reef IMO you will never want anything else. DO NOT skimp you your skimmer. IMO it is on of the most important pieces of equipment you will purchase for your system
as for your lighting. i wuold go with a 400 watt bulb every two feet. if the tank is over 25 inches tall. you can use 250 watters if its 25 or less. with that said my tank is only 25 inches tall but i still prefer the 400's. most will say you dont need that much light but i have tried both ways and my growth and color are better then ever with the 400's
you would be ok with a icecap 660 ballast and four 110 VHO bulbs. they will only be for actinics at night. you will get all the light you need from the 400's. my actinics dont go on except in the morning for two hours and then two hours at dark.
for yoru chiller i would run a aqualogic 1/2 HP. otehr then making a custom chiller these can not be beat IMO

really i should not have said that since he has pasted on a while ago now. if anyone was a big fan i did not mean disrespect by that comment. he was a big man thats for sure. at the end he was trying everything to fix it but it already took its toll on his health. i think he was over 600+ at the end

any hoo... do run a uv sterilizer? Very nice tank sand and glass are spotless. I just started stocking sps. tank has been running a little over a year now and have limited success with acropora and just got some encrusting montipora. I really like your different color of monti plates!! Do you have cal reactor? how do you dose for cal?

i love monti cap. there are 19 different kinds in there. everything from super green to purple with blue polyps. its my fav coral.
i do not run a reactor. i move so much water out of my system every week that i replace it with new water so much that i have no need. my ca sits arouns 450-470 at all times
