Ok, here is the deal. I just purchased this tank brand new in the box. I was wanting to set up something. But with the Eclipse design. Is FOWLR the only way I can go with this set up?
Hi there, and WELCOME to SWF....I do not have an eclipse, BUT I think they have pc lighting....therefore you will be limited as far as what coral you can keep...
good luck, and again welcome to SWF
Yeah I was just hoping to keep some coral. Didn't have to be any special kind. Just wanting some in there at least. I didn't want it to be a complete FOWLR.
Oh well that's cool. As long as I can keep something other then fish and live rock. I am happy. What other kind of filtration should I have besides the Eclipse hood filter?

Do you really need a protein skimmer. I have read a lot of people saying they aren't really needed.
I have one on all of my tanks....and after seeing the nasty stuff that comes out of them...In my opinion..YES...they are good to have
IMO.. return the eclipse. u will be much happier in the long run with a 20 long with a hob and your own lighting..
i had a 12 g eclipse for a nano and it was a nightmare.
I'm using that setup but I knew then what I know now I would def pass on the eclipse. Lighting sucks. So u have to buy lightng and filter before u can put any corals in it. I love the tank now but there is def a better way to do things. But if u got it so cheap u can afford lighting and a filter so no worries right?
I dunno about the brand but you can keep many different types and kinds of corals... just they wont do as well as they would with higher wattage... People used to keep corals with regular light back in the day im sure a PC will be more than enough to keep some corals and not have them take over your tank...
