The way I look at it is that it is 'their' money (compaines), and sense it is their's they can choose how they want to spend it. If people want to stop seeing them 'waste' money then they might want to consider not buying any of their products anymore. Just my 2 sense.

out of fareness, if they didn't think they could turn a buck, then they wouldn't be dropping the 3 million...
Plus that 3 million does pay some's salary. And that doesn't even count production costs of those commercials, more money being paid to people, thus creating or at least funding, jobs...
As these two point out, it is the company's money that is paying for these commercials, and people get paid to make the commercials. Where did they get them money?? YOU buying the stuff they are advertising for. If there wasn't already sufficient demand for the products, they wouldn't be investing
in expensive advertising to increase revenue.

Well, I bet some of the smaller companies, forking over the cash for a Superbowl spot is probably a big gamble, and if they don't get a fairly quick return, could be a in real trouble.
But totally agree. The buck just doesn't stop there either. CBS gets the money, so CBS is able to use that money to produce more shows, tons of jobs there. And then of course, however much CBS paid the NFL for the broadcast, and then the NFL uses that money.
