I would call some fish stores see if there is someone in your area that works with acrylic, more than likely they can patch the area that the crack is in.
Your explanation is a bit vauge, are you saying there is a crack in the top support of your aquarium?

Well its hard to tell with only seeing that much.. also metal is no good near a saltwater tank .. rust the first thing i would do it get clamps and hold it tight to push the crack together, then use a two part epoxy on TOP of the tank to seal it.. then worry about braces

Keep that tank! Jesus is on your fish tank!
Sell it, on that big auction site, next to the Grilled Cheese that has the face of Mother Teresa on it!

nice aw2........i would take and do a wood frame around the stop make sure it is untreated lumber........... and do the cross bracing across the top if possible i hope ya can understand what im saying if not i will try to explain some more.

All you need to do, to brace is go and buy a few pieces of acylic...get the thickness that the actual aquarium is...if the tank is 1/2" acrylic, then get pieces that are 1/2" thick.
Say that crack is 2" long...get two pieces of acrylic that are 4" x 4".
Sandwich the crack inbetween the two pieces of acrylic and use Weld-On #4 to bond the pieces to the tank itself.
Weld-On is what they use to build the tanks. It's like an acrylic super glue that actually melts the acrylic together.

not to start a debate here, but you only need one peice of acrylic no need to sandwich it at all.if you have basicly 3 inches of acrylic you create a dead spot from lighting I agree use the same thickness acrylic but instead of sandwiching this place on the underside of the break.make sure when you do the weld there are no air gaps this will create a bubbling effect which cannot be removed.use an acrylic bonding adhesive.if you overlap the openings to the tank at all make sure you cut them back out to the origanal sized .2 sheets is unessesary overkill.unless you use 1/2 the origanal thickness per side
