Neat set-up! If you're changing about 200 gallons a month; $100 really sounds high. You can buy Instant Ocean salt for about $55 (for 200 gal); no sales tax, including delivery to your door. Reef Crystals, about $62 for 200 gal.

Here's my "build" thread. Water changes are easy, 50 gallons every other week. I keep a rubbermaid with a float valve set to 50 gallons... fill it up, dump a bag of IO in and the salinity comes out perfect every time. Then pump water from my sump to the sink. Then pump from the rubbermaid to the sump. Takes about 15 minutes total.
Now, scraping algae on the other hand, is a PITA. I have realized that I must scrape every day, as the accumulation of algae is too much to handle. So I scrape for about 40 minutes per day. We're talking step-ladders, scrubbers, scrapers, towels, etc. It's pretty difficult but at least the tank is always clean...

Cool setup. I'd love to see more pics. IMO, you do large water changes but have minimal filtration for such a large system. Is this by design? Do you have many fish in your system? How long has it been setup?

Yes it is by design, I rely solely on flow and live rock for 99% of the filtration.
I dose sugar every night and drip kalk water for top offs,I transferred all of my contents of my 8 foot 180 over and added more to this new system that I put in service back in December. I do large water changes because I always have, the little extra cost means nothing to me. I have undetectable readings of nitrate and phosphate, and I tend to limit my feeding to twice a week and don't supplement anything for corals because of the large water changes. why add things to you system if you can't test for it. IMO.
