$5,000 was just handed to you

Maybe you went on "are you smarter than a 5th grader" maybe you got a huge tax refund, maybe you won a small scratch ticket lottery or maybe you discovered lost treasure in your backyard. You have $5k cash in your hands. all of your bills are up to date, your financial portfolio is somewhat stable given what's happening in the world, your kids college fund is good, and your house is not in need of major repairs.
If you had $5,000 cash to blow on something frivolous, without judgement from your family, without having to answer to anyone as to why you didnt put it into paying off the car or into savings, what would it be? No "responsible" answers allowed. $5k on something FUN. What would it be?

Corvette ZO6 or Mercedes CLS63 (either of them used, are roughly in the $35k-40k range). Well, I would use that $5k + my Caddy as a trade-in, and that would roughly bring the monthly payments down to something I could afford. That's what I'd do, but not feeling that's an acceptable answer....
So here.... I would buy an F355 Challenge Deluxe arcade machine. One of the greatest racing arcade games ever. Released in 1999, it features 3-flat screen monitors, a real H-pattern shifter, and a functioning clutch pedal.

300g tank with nothing but the best equipment including a nice chiller and a generator to back it up...
$5000.00 really isn't that much money, I doubt I could get that dream tank with it, maybe $10.000

Would pay for a nice trip. Memories are always a great purchase. If not then if you are in need of feeling charitable then I will PM you my address. $2500.00 would leave you some change as well.

Go to the casino boat a couple miles away and I'd put $2500 on red.
Then I'd take advantage of a sale going on and buy an eye of "my Miami chalice" for $1000
Get a new PS3 cause mines been broken for a while. $300
Get a large flat screen tv. $1200

I guess I am boring. My first inclination is to invest it. That's why I can afford to blow 5 grand on something frivolous now if I wanted to.

Now if you handed me 50 grand we'd be talking one of the new Shelby Mustangs.

That's the point. Its only $5k, which isn't much, it's more realistic a scenario than $10k or $50k.

If I was going to blow 5k on something, right now... I'd drop 2000 on some old beat up truck, and 3000 on a old beat up flatbottom boat.

LOL....surely for $3000 you could get a decent boat....you can around here anyways

My wife's grandmother gave us $10k about a month ago and we just banked it for the kids. I guess in reality I would bank the 5k also.

Oh you can get a older pickup for 2k with just a little rust and a newer motor...
