ok, here's the reason im asking, ive come up with a great way to aquascape said tank, im gonna have my gf, jess, who's an awesome painter, paint a landscape scene and im gonna stick it to the back of the tank, and its gonna be an indian warrior on his horse, silhouette, overlooking his village, surrounded by mountains, with the sun setting in the back ground, and was thinking that a few seahorses along with the other fish would look phenomenal in something like that, what ya think? but, i was looking a pretty good sized fish stocklist as well, lol, i might have to do a separate tank with a similar landscape for the horses LOL cause i wanna have a couple of angels inthe tank, little ones, but angels nonetheless, i was looking at the pygmy yellowtail angels for that tank, 2 inches max lenght when full grown, and 5 longfin fairy wrasses, male an 4 females, so i just dont know now :(

oh, and i was gonna do my live rock to match the mountains and prairies, so it seems like the village an indian warrior are sitting on top of the rock

Seems like a beautiful aquascaped tank , but like t said , the fish are too aggressive for a horse tank.....slow gobies , firefish, blennies etc

i might just have to do a separate tank, with a similar design, just for horses :D cause the more i think about it, the more i think that they would look really really cool in a tank with that kinda design on the back ground, what do u guys think?

hmmmm, maybe do like a 75 with a mandarin, some firefish, and maybe a small school of exquisite wrasses and possibly even a pair of ocellaris clowns, cause according to the compatibility chart in this forum lol, those are all fairly safe, with the clowns being the most potential for trouble

Honestly? I don't see that working too well. I kno those are all safe on the compatibility chart, but the chart was written with the intention of just adding a FEW extra fish in the tank. In other words, the tank should still be focusing on the seahorses, and a couple fish are there for variety. You mention a school of wrasses, and a couple ocelaris clowns.....one of each might not outcompete for fod, but the qty you're talking about would almost certainly outcompete the horses for food.
I'm not tryin to bust on your dream (esp the painted backdrop! Coolness!) but just suggesting if you do it, go for 4-6 horses in a 55g tank and just add a max of 3 fish to the list: maybe a fairy or flasher wrasse, a firefish, and a mandarin if you have a fuge to support it that's been running a while.
I know percula clowns are listed as horse safe, but just remember that clowns are damsels in disguise, and sometimes act very aggressively towards tankmates. i would do one if you really wanted, but watch it and be prepared to move it, just in case.

Meowzer, congrats on your horses so far! The orange one looks AMAZING.
Thank you sooo much, the orange one is a piglet...LOL...the black one seems more picky. I just added 2 bags of copepods just to be sure there are plenty.

Have you considered offering them live saltwater feeder shrimp? My horses go after these shrimp like they're snickers bars with legs. I don't give them a lot, but once a week or so I'll dump about 10 in and let the horses pig out. I don't know if you can get them locally, but there are online places thats sell them. SWF's store only sells the freshwater variety (WTF is up with that??) but you can find the SW variety at Las Dos Doctores if you wish, among other places. Best to find them local if you can, though -- that way you can make sure you're getting the small size you'll want for your horses.

LOCAL...LOL...The closest fish store is 90 miles, but the guy usually finds stuff special for me...How big are these feeder shrimp? And where do you keep them? Surely you don't just buy a few at a time?
