What species of horses are you getting?? be sure to try and get CB. you will have less problems. Also be careful mixing pipes and horses. Most all pipes are WC and will have to be QT and prob wormed. Cant wait to see pictures of them.

guess what...
NEW HORSIES!!!!!!!!!!

i got two young kellogi (we think) today! mom bought one and i bought one

one of them is 99% a guy i believe and the other one i'm not sure it's a tad smaller.
i found them holding tails in the bag, does that mean they like each other? like, like like? that would be sweet
anyway, one is hanging out on the side of the tank the comp is on watching me and the other is scoping out around the eelgrass

i'm so excited, i'll have a vid up tonight hopefully but i need to do some homework or i may not live long enough to post a video

got some new fake plants in the tank now too, someday i want to have all real plants but for now cheap ones is all i can afford. the eelgrass is spreading lately though.
i'm so excited !!!

the one behind me is already eating pods! havent whatched the other one too much he is still scoping out the tank. but this other one seems attatched to me already, haha

i got that garlic stuff aswell, was expensive tho

one of them has a small white polyp on it's tail i noticed...it's not aiptasia i don't think, it's tiny but you can see it's a polyp when opened. pure white, and it's tentacles are almost feathery lookin. i'll try to get a close up but i doubt i can. i'm not too worried since it don't look like aiptasia, but should i try to get it off somehow? and how would i do that?

Not at all, you're just fine. I have the same problem. I do something new with my tanks...and no responses...even with videos this happens to me. The new horses sound great, and happy if they're up and hunting.

More Pics please!!

i uploaded the wrong vid so the right one..i think is uploading now.
they seem happy, there eating pods and a bit of mysis with garlic added.
they are sticking together and seem to like to be right behind me, haha.
so if they were tail-to-tail in the bag, does that mean they really like each other? i can't tell if the other one is a boy or not

anyway, i'll re-arrange the plants tomorrow, and probabbly take out the ugly fat leaf blue one.

Seahorses are extremely social fish. They hold tails, hitch together, eat together, in all sorts of weather. The 2 females I purchased together were holding tails too. Seahorses do not do well alone at all. They are very subceptible to death due to loneliness. They are extremely curious about their surrounds, including you. The most unique experience I love with the horses, is when you look into their eyes the horse looks back at you. They studied you, recognize you, and come to trust you. Aurora use to flee at the sight of my hand, But now she trusts me enough I have to push Aurora out of the way when I clean the feeding dish!
So they definitely hitched to you right off! I would need some pics to determine their ---. Sounds like a wonderful start!

i looked at a nice site: http://www.seahorse.org/library/articles/---.shtml
the word that probably has --- on the url is s-e-.x. it's about sexing your seahorse and very helpful.
one i thought had a small hole on there belly, may have been just a hole for anything. but the other has a whiter colored area wherre the pouch would eb, and it's young, so i think maby it's a male and the other is a female cause the bigger one doesn't show any sign of a pouch. i was looking for a pouch higher up on the belly, my bad, hehe.

oh, should i ask...at that size, are they old enough to have babies? and when there older, what size tank would be minumum for the babies? all i got is a 5 gallon extra tank right now. i would have to tank my newly made freshwater tank i just spent about 50 bucks on for a filter, plants, and gravel. ad that tank is only 18 gallons.
and also, could the babies grow up in the tank with the parents? i mean, if a dwarf can live with a big horse, what sort of problems would babies with parents cause? i can turn off my extra powerhead.
just don't think my mom will want me getting another tank anytime soon

OOoooooohhhhhhh boy....my daughter came home the other day from school and told me that her friends thought that babies came from storks or cabbage patches, and they wouldn't believe her when she told them they grow inside of mommy's tummy.

As for determining your horses' gender:

I have my 2 Kelloggi and all of my ponies, babies too in my 45 gallon. And no need to turn of filters, just make sure you cover the intake flow with a sponge and buffer the return flow with plants, sponge, or other types of flow buffers.

yeah, one of them, the smaller one, has a lighter colored skin where the pouch would be, an there still kinda young. lfs guy said there poiuches havent really shot out yet, but i'm guessing that lighter colored skin where the pouch would be is a male.
both went to sleep at a good time, both right next to each other on a plant.
i woke up ythis morning and both of them were attacking pods like they have never seen food before. they were slirping up food like a vaccum to a nest of fruit flies!
i suposed there happpy and doing good if there sleeping, hanging out together, and eating already?
there so cute.
when i was little i always wanted big seahorses.i never really thought that i would actually have them as pets

oh, what should i do about this polyp thing? it's not aiptasia. it's pure white, really small, and it's tentacles look like they got feathers on them. should ii somehow try to take it off, and how? or just leave it, or let the horse get it off if it bugs him?
i can't get a pic, it's so small and it's not opened up since i put it in the tank.

one half is dark and the toher half is light. not sure how soon i ccan get another light, maby tomorrow, or even today if i'm lucky. but will this bother the horses?
maby they will think there under a shade sponge tree? haha.

two questions
1. should i be worried about the polyp
2. how can i get teh mysis to stay in the dish? half of it just flows out and flaots around.
