Till Saturday Morning only Price is only 250 bucks! I am looking at trading up and can use the money. I was trying to sell this for 350 but I will take 250, now. This deal is only good until Saturday Morning. Item has to be picked up by this time.
I have a 48" Hamilton Technology Metal Halide / PC Light Hood and Ballasts for sale. These lights are used for a reef aquarium. It is a 48" light hood. The bulbs are two 250 watt metal halid lights (10k) and two 96 watt PC lights (Actinic) for a total of 692 watts. This much wattage is ideal to bring life to all coral types in a 75 gallon tank (thats 10 watts per gallon) ( I just so happen to also be selling a 75 gallon tank in another posting). The current bulbs are 7 to 8 months old. I would suggest new bulbs, you can get these bulbs cheap on ----. If you will be adding this light hood to an existing reef, the used bulbs are ideal for getting your corals and fish use to the more intense light before new bulbs are put in. The two of the ballasts are BlueLine ballasts (for the Metal Halide Ballasts) and the last is a Custom SeaLife Inc. ballasts (for the PCs). Here are some links for each of the parts in this posting (these aren't my links, just what I found in searches to show you the quality you are getting and the awesome price that I am selling this for):
Ballast: (online price of BlueLine are $250 each and the Custom SeaLife I am unsure of the price)
Light Hood: (online price of $725.50)
no links to competitor sites
I bought this set for $900. So this is a steal at $250 OBO. The cables for the hood and ballasts are long so you can put them almost anywheres around your tank. I have them mounted on two small boards to mount the whole ballasts setup inside of the stand off the floor. This is a nice setup that will really enchance your reef tank. There is only one thing to mention, the plexiglass piece has developed a crack because of the heat. You can get a replacment piece at Lowes or HomeDepot for probably around 20 or 30 bucks. It doesn't have to be fixed right away, the light hood will work with the crack in the plexiglass just fine, but it should eventually be replaced.
I am only accepting cash for all items. So $250 OBO for this time.

I could do shipping. I have shipped lights before but they typically break the bulbs because of the shock of them transferring it, even with UPS making the box for the hood. But I am not a big fan of shipping it. If we can wait, I would rather wait a little while to see if any local takers.

I see where you are coming from. Just seems like too good of a deal to pass up! I've actually had really good luck with shipping with the use of newspaper and packing peanuts. I just sent a 48" PC setup that arrived great. I would even be willing to pay a little more then shipping if you would be interested in shipping.

Yeah I will ship it for you. I will just put a lot of extra padding around the lights to try and protect them. Email me your address and I will go to UPS (unless you want another carrier) and get your shipping quote for you. So you will know how much to send me. Here is a link to craigslist of my posting there. So you can see pictures.

I'm not sure who would be the most reasonably priced for shipping. The PC's I just sent today by USPS which were 48" but of course not quite as thick cost me around $12 with insurance. They may be a little bit lower

The last light hood I sent was a 72" from TX to IA and it was a little over 100 bucks. But that included boxing the lights for me and the insurance. So that will give you an idea of how much shipping could be.

Yea that must not have been through USPS. They have standard pricing for the size of the box. A quote from USPS.com if it weighs 30 lbs. (which should be pretty generous) it would cost around $20 for Parcel Post. Insurance I'm guessing would be around $3 extra..... I'm at 57078

I sent the last Light hood through UPS. Not sure how much it weighted. But it was a 72" light hood. This is only a 48" light hood. I am not sure what USPS charges. But this light hood and ballast weights in at 42 lbs. add in a little extra for box and packing materials and your probably around 47 to 50 lbs. The light ballasts alone weight 17 lbs. You can check what shipping would cost you. I would guess this would fall under oversized package. My zip code is 75094. Use that as the from address. Hopefully this will help you figure out shipping. You can pay exact shipping costs. I don't charge any handling fee, but if some materials are needed for packing, I would have to get them.

I calculated at 50 pounds for standard parcel post which is 5 business days. As long as the package girth + length is no more then 84 inches, and to insure it for up to $250 it would cost less then $30. The hardest part I would say would be finding a box that's not going to be way too big for it and drive the shipping price up. Did you buy everything brand new when you purchased this as well?? How long ago did you buy it?? Forgot about those important questions

I bought the lights 3 years ago and they were used at that time. I am not sure what the exact age is of the lights. Brand New the lights would have been like 1500 bucks. I am not sure where to find a box that size. I can look around work to see if we have a box that I can cut up to fix around the lights and ballasts. I will look tomorrow and see what I can come up with for that. I just measured the light hood and ballasts. The light hood is 52" X 13.5" X 6.5 which equals 72" (yes it is 48" light hood but from eye hook to eye hook on the ends it is 52"). The ballasts are 11.5" X 8.5" X 3". If I was to put the ballasts right against the lights in one box that makes the light and ballasts 61" X 13.5" X 6.5" which equals 81. Thats without any packaging. So as one box they would be over the 84" limit of USPS. As two boxes I think they would be fine but then you are paying for two packages. Try some numbers with with two boxes; Ballast box at 17 lbs plus packing weight and light hood at 25 lbs with packing weight. See what those numbers get you.

Yea, I think it might be a little more involved then I expected. If you have a hard time selling them let me know, otherwise I may just check locally for a bit to see if I can come across something.
