well I bought it whe it was about the size of a quarter and it looked emaciated. But now it is one of the biggest pigs in my Tank! she/he measures in at nearly two inches now.
occasionally the tang will get one or two spots but only every few weeks. it eats prepared foods readily and is a great tank mate. for you, pick one that is already eating. it helps to treat with hypo salinity to relieve the tank of any likely parasites it may initially be carrying.

oh yeah, Make sure they get a lot of greens so that they dont develop HLLE or die bc of a diet to high in other "carnivorous" protiens and stuff. Emerald entree , formula two, and sea weed are the BEST.

well Hawk fish , I'm sure that your tank is developing very nicely. The yellow polyps are a LPS stony coral called Sun polyps (Tubastraea sp) and are completely carnivorous (they contain no photosynthetic zooanthelle )I hope i spelled that right. They can be placed in light or dark and should be enticed to eat when first purchased by floating them in a tupperware container in the tank with a cube of frozen food ex. brine shrimp. Then when the polyps are open, stir the food to that the polyos are fed while the food is floating and moving around. Well fed polyps will open up at night and whenerver the slightest "smell" of food is in the water ex. when feeding the fish at 10:00 am even. they are very hardy considering that they are fed atleast twice a week although they can go much longer without food as many do from the time that they are collected to the time they reach a retail store. VERY COOL POLYPS!!!

how my tank used too look
1 is the tank about three days old after most of the cloudiness had gone away
2 is the tank ata bout two weeks
3 The beginning of a cyano bacteria bloom (on the rocks)
4 My firt three fish , blue green chromises and the beginning of an algae bloom on the rocks , glass and sand. (some hair algae too!)
5 near the endy of the cyano bacteria and the peak of the algae bloom. Those hermits are right at work!
6 well I can tell this was a while ago (camera focus!) And some of the fish that I had before my friend and I traded for more desireable species.
7 The great beginning of coraline algae and some small corals (bird's nest in the middle)
8 about a month and a half later with some better corals and more coraline
9 some picts of the tank at that time and about two weeks later.

Thanks to all! Hawkfish, When I first got the rock, as you can see, ther was not a lot of the coraline algae. That which was there was basically the "seed" for growing corlaine. If you dont have much I would suggest increasing calcium , lighting, and buying live rock with very established coraline algae. You can scrape off some coraline algae from the rock so that it will spread throught the water column and hopefully begin taking over our live rock. Good Luck!
