Well I sold my first attempt at a SW aquarium. Since I have started that one I have gained a lot of knowledge on here thanks to all of you.
I recently got a 200 gal tank, stand ,canopy, and lights. My question is, Should I run a sump and fuge alone, or run a canister filter with the sump. I guess what I am trying to ak is what is the best way to filter such a monster. This will be a reef tank, and I want it done right, but I would like it to be as affordable as possoble. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Along with that could some one explain the sump and plumbing as simple as possible. I'm slowwww!
I hope I put this in the right place.

IMO, canister filters are useless and a waste of money.
With a tank that large, especially if you're going to be running a reef tank, the only way to go is with a large sump/refugium (as large as you can anyway) and a large skimmer.

Thanks for the info! Know can you or any one tell me some good equip to use like pumps and skimmers. What would make for a good sump-fuge set up.

Not a whole lot of equipment is going to be on the cheap side. Good gear depends on your budget, or if you don't have one I can reccomend lots of stuff. About sumps/fuges theres lots of info here for YOU

Thanks for the site. Also yes if you could give me a good equip list. I would like to keep things in the sump, like submersible pumps, and stuff of that nature.

Is the sump going in your stand? If so H&S, Deltec, and ER all make beastly skimmers that are stubby.

Yes it is going in the stand. I guess my main problem is what size pumps to use, and how to plumb it all. I am totaly new to the whole sump thing. Do I T the overflows into the skimmer, or have one overflow into a skimmer, and one into a fuge. then have one return from the sump and T back into both returns.

I don't know! The tank is not set up yet. So none of the plumbing is in place yet. For some reason I just can't grasp this. Maybe I am thinking to hard on the whole thing. I need to buy the sump and all the plumbing. So I guess the overflow will be what ever I plumb it for. Right? I need ideas as what I need to buy, So I can get this up and running.

An easy setup for you would probably be the All-glass sump they are nice and won't break the bank.
They are very easy to setup and will have the recommended return pump for your size tank.
CHECK OUT ALL-GLASS dot com

Thanks! That looks great, except the bio-balls. I hear that they are nitrate or nitrite collectors. Can those be replaced with anything else.
