I'm not trying to be a downer here, but keep an eye on your tank as some of those plastics can get very brittle after a while. Hopefully yours wont, I just wanted you to know, it would be a shame to lose those frags should it crack.

I never planned on having this up for any extended period of time, I've already had to build a PVC brace that spans the mid section which were flaring out. I give it about 6-9 months because by then everyone in the house will be so sick and tired with my constant whinning about wanting a REAL frag tank that they wil get me one just to shut me up

We have growth!....Granted i'm using fairly easy corals.
1st photo show a total of 5 new polyps in about a weeks growth when compared to the prior picture I posted
2nd photo is showing a lot of growth, I didn't originally post a pic of this rock, but you can see all the new polyps
3rd photo is a multi colored zoo rock that I created, in the center I glued a single blue polyp and just noticed that there are now 2
. I'm on this kick to cover large chunks of LR with various colored zoo's
4th photo is a colony of pink polyps i'm about to start fragging,...gota love the color
5th photo is an 8" branch that i'm starting to cover with various colors. I've got some lavenders, blues and pinks that will be added to this rock this week

No skimmer, I ran one for 2 weeks and it was getting nothing as there is no livestock in the tank except for corals and I do weekly water changes, it's only 16g and I do a 5g change. Using a 1" LS bed, small fluval running carbon and thats it. Tropical Marine PRO salt, feeding plankton and cyclopeez and a few snails. It's loaded with pods, pretty amazing to use a flashlight and see all the critters moving around.

How did you connect your overflow to the Fluval?
I've been wanting to add an overflow to mine, but wasn't sure if/how it could be done.

The fluval is a stand alone. The overflow is connected to the 10g sump using a rio pump. The return for the sump is connected to a 14" spraybar so tht I get pretty even waterflow over the entire surface. The return for the fluval is just the hose zip tied into place so that I can one area of high flow for certain frags. Excuse the mess, I had to switch out some heaters and never got around to cleaning up the wires and clipping the zip ties....Funny story, woke up one night to the sound of my dogs barking and having a fit, went flying into the room this tank is in and the return for the fluval had seperated from the tank and had dumped about 10g of water onto the carpet and the dogs thought it was funny when they bounced up and down and the water would squirt all over the place from the force of their paws hitting the carpet.....what a mess...Now everything is zip tied...I've learned from experience to always have four or five, 5 gallon buckets of premixed SW always on hand just in case anything ever happens..

along with 15 ric polyps, some killer oranges

These will be next weeks frag project, man I lucked out with these. I'm going to frag these out into 5, 10 & 15 polyps frags and use them to measure growth. Same photo, second one was lightened just a bit to show colors

MMM i like those solid blue zoo's and that green skirted one :) How long before you'll have some rahter smal lfrags ready to sell and ship? And how much $? Great work.

And about your comment of these being easy corals...
LFS really don't seem to care much about 'easy' corals as compared to hard ones - they just like the color. You could get a lot of store credit pretty easily I bet for bulb replacements ect.
Great project

hey,
when you frag your zoos do you just cut one polyp of the rock its on and then super glue it to another rock?

It's been a couple of months and I've had some incredible growth on my zoo "gardens". Here are the below and afters, the tonga branches make for some interesting gardens as there are lots of areas for the zoos to expand onto. I really like the combination of the tealgreen zoos and the watermellon with green skirts. Here are the before and after pics, same rock, just with more zoo's.
