911 is my tank OK?

I was cleaning my 150 gal tank and one of the cross braces on top snapped with a loud "crack", leaving about 3/8" of a gap where the tank appears to have "bowed out" from the released pressure. There was originally 2 cross braces and the other one was already broken so now I have no cross braces holding anything together. Everything looks to be OK but I am worried that I might wake up tomorrow morning with a flood. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance!

My thought would be get some really big rubbermaids and get the tank empty b4 it bursts....then you can either fix the braces or get a new tank

+1000 It is already visibly bowed and it snapped the second top brace...get moving on those rubbermaids.

I wouldnt give a day or too i would get another tank and some rubbermaids... ASAP
those middle brace hold the tank together at the top, without it the tank is worthless
I got a 55 gallon tank with a broke brace filled halfway for a turtle tank
i would try selling the tank as a turtle tank due to the part that u cant fill it all the way
at least try to get some money out of it to go towards the new tank

That's poopy! You could go to the hardware store and get a couple of long arm clamps. Put across top of tank where braces were and just pull down snug. I would not try to reverse the bowing with them, as I would be afraid to break the tank doing so. Hopefully the clamps will prevent further bowing and allow you a little time to get something else.
If you know who made your tank, you can get a replacement for the support braces, but changing them can be more trouble than it's worth.
Good luck and sorry for your troubles!

Thanks to all for the quick replies! I emptied half the water out, superglued the brace back together where it was originally, then I epoxied 1/4" plexiglass along both sides to reinforce the cross brace. I also added an additional brace back where the other one was originally broken. Probably better now than what it was.

Did you get the bow out of it before all of the gluing and epoxy? If not you still have a problem at the vertical seams in the corners.

my mh bulb blew my center piece apart one day on my 250 gallon.just like shrimpy said i put a long clamp on it and it has been like that for a year now.since my wood working friend built me a sweet custom stand that is 36 inches tall and the tank is 33 inches .you dont even notice the clamp .you might want to keep a keen eye on the fix you did.plexi doesnt adhear to any glues or epoxies very well.
