I'm not sure about you guys but of all the sports news out there, what just boggles my mind is what king of contract A-Rod (and Boras) is asking for. Buster Olney reports the Yankees need to offer $350 million just to have conversation with A-Rod, which they have declined to do.
If I had to do one thing for major league baseball it would be to make a salary cap. That will never happen because of MLBPA. Dont mention revenue sharing because we are talking about individual players, not teams.
A-Rod was given $252 million in the 2000 contract he signed with the Texas Rangers (Tom Hicks, GM, made that decision) and that made everything worse.
I dont care if he hit 150hrs, 250rbis, and hits .450 this season... NOBODY should be making this kind of money and not a single owner should pay A-Rod and Scott Boras (A-Rod's agent) this money.
Front runners to put their heads up their @sses are the LA Angels and the Mets. My wish is that no one pays him what he wants and he sits on his load of money he's already made. Wishful thinking.
