So I went and picked up the Kent's Kawas(however its spelt) calcium stuff..
and i Mixed up 1 1/2gal of water and 1teaspoon of the kents powder.. It said to add it slowly to the tank so i put in about 2 cups from the 1 1/2 gals figured through today and tomorrow i would just keep adding ever couple hours or so...
first time adding calcium so kinda scarry..
anyways one of my xeina stalks shrivled up like really really tight.. One is still pulsing and flowing well although it is acting a bit diffrent.. Should i be conserned?
what happend?

How big is the tank? Be very, very careful! Kalk will make your PH jump up dramatically and can stress your tank considerably. Kalk is meant to be dripped slowly so you don't have large PH swings. You definitely don't want to add cups at a time or you could kill corals and live stock or at the very least stress them!

ohhhh I HATE my LFS..
i read the package and that is exactly what it said.. to drip it in..
but the owner of the store said.. "oh no it can be just poured into the tank.. just have to do it slowly over a couple hour period."
I thought i was being to cautious by doing only a cup everycouple hours..
Oh he is sooo going to hear from me tomorrow
on a better note.. xeina is looking much better.. lunars are just on now and they are not as shrivled up as they were eariler.. look much heathier.. :joy:
but im still pissed they told me I could pour it in..

i use kent marine liquid calcium. Everything seems just fine...however don't follow the directions and add a few drops every day...i did that and saw calcium buildup begin on my glass and rocks.

Kent has a drip system for about $25. Before setting up my calcium reactor I used to use Kent Tech CB (Parts A & B) daily and it worked very well for me.

Yeah kent sells something called the AquaDose.. it is very easy to use and very cheap.
I use a small one for Kalk on my setup... only I have to fill it up every night before I go to bed cause it only holds a liter of water and I have a 60 gal that evaporates like a 100 gallons of water a day... don't ask how that happens but it does lol.

Kent-Tech or B-Ionic are supplements that can be slowly poured in. If you're not going with the limewater you'll want the two-part additives that add Carbonate in balance with the Calcium.
Do a search for a DIY Kalk-Dripper. I've seen a few cheap alternatives to dosers. Not pretty perhaps, but cheap :)
It'll work best if you drip overnight when CO2 levels are higher.

If your budget is REALLY tight you can go to a med store and get an iv drip bag. I use it to bring up ca when its low in addition to the kalk. they are about 6 bucks and will dose about 500ml at time.

Sorry Mods! I didn't link to the store itself, just a picture of a drip system that was on their site. If you clicked on the link you couldn't get to their store you would just see the picture of a Kent drip system. At ay rate, my apologies!!!
