Additives

Hi! I have read several conflicting opinions from various sources regarding what additives need to be added to the water of a reef tank to keep everything growing and healthy. The most often conflicting opinions are regarding iodine. Some say that you should add it weekly, and some say rarely if ever because adaquate amounts are contained in salt mixes. So what do you guys think? (about iodine and other additives)

As a general rule I refuse to suppliment anything unless I can accurately and easily test for it. Iodine is not on that list for me. I suppliment for calcium/alkalinity/magnesium...all other trace elements including iodine are maintained via monthly 10%-20% water changes.
