Ads on SWF

Maybe it's just me. I'm getting pretty bloody sick and tired of these ads on SWF. I have a fairly good computer, but every time I step in to SWF's forums I have to wait for EVERY page to load. Watch your info bar when you click a thread one day. Huddler.com, Doubleclick.com, google infomatics, and I'm sure plenty more..... they all have their claws in each SWF page you click, and they all slow up the loading process.
Don't get me wrong. SWF is still my "go to" forum 90% of the time. I love this place, and the people on it. I even understand the need for ads to support the cost that these web pages incur. I just wish there could be FEWER and the ads be more TOPICAL. Even as I type this, I am looking at two ads for California Psychics and two more that have some freaky old woman/young woman drawing that looks more like the mug shot of an alien Grey with a hangover to me. Tell me - how the hell are those pertinent to our hobby? Furthermore, all four of these ads are the kind where you can play a little "game," and the flash coding (I think these are flash based, anyway..) is a further drain on loading time and computer resources.
In a perfect world we wouldn't need them at all. In a moderately perfect world they would be confined to the main menu page, or (one would hope...) at least more relevant to the topics at hand. But for EVERY PAGE.....? Even when I click on a link to respond or create a new topic?? Come one, people. This is getting ridiculous.

I think it's funny that SWF competitor's ad is on here 90% of the time.

Rick, download simple adblock.....I have it on all my computers and it took care of all the ads

That's not an option if it's not your computer. The one I use frequently isn't, and I too have been a little ticked about the ads. I can see the web addresses loading one by one on the bottom of the page. The pages take forever to load. Sometimes there's a single ad that doesn't load properly and it keeps grinding.

Couple things.
First to Meowzer: THANK YOU. I downloaded it on my home computers. But as Renee pointed out, I can't do that for all the computers I'm on. And more to the point....I find it frustrating that we as consumers have to go to such lengths anymore to AVOID someone yammering in our ear (or assaulting our visual cortexes...) about some "simple home remedy to fix your flab/yellow teeth/empty pocketbook." These local moms sure do know a lot, don't they??
And yes, BJT, the banner does on occasion display ads for SWF competitors. Why? Informatics. A broadly defined term, in this case meaning, "we can spy on the cookies of your common users and display ads similar to recently visited sites." YOU personally may delete your cookies at the end of every session, but not everybody who visits this site does. The information gathering portion of the ad can read the cookies of any active user, then display ads for everyone. This is pretty much what my internet IT professor warned us about 4 years ago in his class, but he was more quaint about it. Ever hear a native Japanese man tell you in broken English that "Big Brother Watching You!?" And yet, he was right.......!

Like i live in denver. And i would see an ad that says:
Denver mom makes $70/hr. $1000 a month!
Denver mom finds secret to rapid weight loss.

Yeah, they can read your ip address and plug the city in to customize your ad.
Sometimes I'm on a floating ip, and the ads give me the craziest city names.

Unfortunately, my home pc protection software has to quarantine ad cookies from here daily and I have to go through the process of deleting cookies from SWF daily....even with ad block. But ad block does make the site look a lot better.
I do wish SWF would stick to legitimate hobby related ads, and get rid of the disgusting google ads....such as advertising graphically filthy teeth. Bad enough to see that crap in other places.
